Mass Effect 1 retail vs Mass Effect 1 from Trilogy / PC

Hi boys and girls,

When ME Trilogy was coming out I've read a couple of developer comments about technical updates done in Mass Effect 1 - mainly due to the first time release on PS3. This included sound performance fixes and graphics improvements. 😕mileysurprised:

Since I already own all the Mass Effect games in retail editions (now on Origin) I obviously didn't buy the Trilogy. 😕mileyfrustrated:

Question is - are there really any differences on the PC between the first retail ME (ver. 1.02) and the the ME 1 from the Trilogy set?

Would much appreciate any comments or observations on this - since this was my favorite installment 😕mileywink:

cheers,

Rondel

  • Are you talking about the PS3 version, or the PC version?  Can't speak for the PS3 one, but on my PC the only difference I've noticed (and I have both the original retail disc and the recent EA/Store digital download, but not the bundled "Trilogy" version) is that scanning uninhabited worlds and moving between systems was made a whole lot simpler.  (No more wearing my mouse out spinning a planet under the scanning reticle, thank God!)

The PS3 version had minor improvements to things like the framerate, and the texture popping was improved a bit over the original 360 version. The PS3 version also came with the Bring Down the Sky DLC, and the PC Trilogy ME1 came with BDTS and Pinnacle Station, but other than that I don't think any changes were made to the PC version of ME1.

Yeah I meant the PC version. Thanks for the comments. So apparently there are no differences on the PC - just between the PC and the PS3. So I think I'll pass on the trilogy then 😕mileywink:
