Mass Effect 3 "Perfect ending" impossible due to save transfer from Xbox to PC

Hi all,

I have recently transferred my saves from my Xbox to my PC by following all the required steps. The game went fine, I played multiplayer to get an EMS around 5100 so I could have the perfect ending. All was normal till I got the "bad" (still destroy) ending where Shepard dies. Apparently, you have to have played ME 2 before in order to get it and imported your character. Now this is my problem: I have played ME and ME 2 on my xbox, but the PC recognized it as if not (even though I have all the consequences of my past decisions). My question is: Should I transfer my ME 2 save files and then import my character from the ME 2 to ME 3... and then put my current saves (before the last mission) in the character's directory so I force the game to recognize the import? or do I have to import my ME 2 save and restart the whole ME 3 campaign? I have played the last mission several times to see if it was a bug and it got on my nerves seeing my character die each time...

Thank you in advance for your help,
Max Erick

  • Importing a save file is irrelevant. You can get all the best variations of every single ending if you have an EMS of 4000 in the original cut or 3100 if you have the Extended Cut, as long as you had this value the moment you started the assault on Cronos Station.

It's possible you got the bad ending for a couple of reason:

    1. Editing your save files may have caused data corruption

    2. You only got a high enough EMS through multiplayer after you had assaulted Cronos Station.

I think this is the problem. I transferred my save when I had like mission "Priority: Earth" and just finished the Cronos Station. It is only then that I played multiplayer to get my EMS to 5100. So the solution would be to simply take my save before the Cronos Station mission and then start the chain of events (With having the proper EMS).

    Thanks a lot!

I will mark the post as SOLVED if it works when I try it out.

You could also just edit your save to increase your military strength. That way you wouldn't have to replay Cronos Station. It's cheating, but that's allowed in single player.

Actually, I just played some multiplayer, did the Cronos Station mission again and it worked!

You have my thanks once again.
