Mass Effect 3 readiness rating is a complete joke

I would like to start off by saying I have played all 3 Mass Effect games, some several times. However, when I tried to import my character from ME 1-2 to ME 3 I was unable too (yes I tried several times and methods) . Instead of spending days trying to figure out how to import my character I just started a new one (little did I know I was going to be at a horrendous disadvantage). Like the 2 previous Mass Effect games I enjoyed myself, did literally every quest in the game and made most of the right decisions (some of the better decisions were not available to me as I could not import my character). I saw my green war assets bar completely full with a rating of 5612 and was proud of all I had done, paying little attention to the readiness rating which I could not understand why it never moved. Anyway, as you can all guess I was not very happy with the way the game ended for me. After completing most games I get a sense of accomplishment and joy, but after the disaster I just witnessed I literally wish I had never played. I could not understand what I just saw and it turns out I needed to play multiplayer, something I do not have the desire to do, to enhance my readiness rating. I know I am not the first and will definitely not be the last to complain about this but forcing someone to play a sub par multiplayer mode to the point it directly affects everything it has taken them 3 games (roughly 150ish hours of my life) to acheive is an absolute joke. I wonder what kind of bonus EA received from microsoft for forcing multiplayer onto the most creative single player experience I have ever had (talk about a clash). Choosing the payday over the outrageously loyal fans who have bought 3 of your games is ridiculous. Lastly, not explaining what the readiness rating actually meant in the single player game so the player would have had the chance to return the game before they wasted 50 hours is disgraceful.

  • It's perfectly possible to get the best variation of each ending by playing single player alone, even if you don't import a save file. All you need is the extended cut DLC and a total miltitary strength of 6200 (Effective 3100). You are not forced to play multiplayer.

If you think you deserve a higher military strength score, edit your save files using Gibbed's ME3 Save Editor.

  • You have to be kidding me with you "solutions" .All you have to do is pay for DLC that should have come with the original game. That's worse than having to play multiplayer as it literally requires payment for a proper ending that I had already more than earned. Additionally, when the company released the game multiplayer was a must as there was no DLC. So yes, you do have to play multiplayer or pay more money to get the ending you deserve. It's a complete scumbag move to an extremely loyal fan base. So my only real option is to edit the files... that's absurd. I appreciate those great "solutions" you brought to the table by I am not putting another second into this game.

Clearly you have no idea how the EC came about and I am in no mood to explain it to you. I do however recommend you actually look at it before posting a reply criticizing it.

In case that’s asking too much of you….IT’S FREE.

Thanks. I'll go ahead and mark my post as the solution then. (Edit: I acknowledge the sarcasm. Unmarked my post as solution.)

That said, the issue is that you're not being enough of a completionist to get the best possible ending. You need a walkthrough, not a fix.

I understand this is frustrating since I had this problem as well. However, the Extended Cut DLC is available for free and fixes this issue so that the readiness rating no longer matters and the war assets you had (3100 EMS max) would have been enough for the best outcome. I agree that the multiplayer requirement shouldn't have been there to begin with in a game that many people are interested in just for the single-player story. Hopefully they won't have an MP requirement in future EA games.

Actually he had a total military score of 5612, which is an effective military score of 2806 without multiplayer or the iPad app. I do believe 2900 is enough to get the best possible ending, but you have to do an interrupt, which you don't need to do with an EMS of 3100. A few more planet scans or sidemissions would have been enough.

  • Actually I did everything that I possibly could, quest and scans etc. given that I was unable to import my character. Certain choices that would have been available (ie satisfying both parties instead of saving one or the other) were not at my disposal so I could not improve my war assets beyond this point. I also apologize that I did not research ahead of time that I was going to NEED DLC to properly finish the game. It's ridiculous that it came to that and that DLC was only made available after the massive backlash from fans when the game was originally released. Thanks for being such a chimpanzee fredvdp.
  • I did every mission, every scan, redid missions where I felt like I made bad decisions, etc. there were no more war assets available..... I dominated the ending that people acted like was so hard only to watch my Shepard get gunned down. You keep proposing things that my initial post already answered. I was not exaggerating when I said I did every quest, side quest, scan, crew/other character conversation, romancing, etc. Everything I could do was done. I picked up Diablo 3, at least I know I don't have to worry about Blizzard screwing up my game, used to think the same of Bioware. No need to continue this conversation where you act like I'm a dumbass (just finished my MBA at USC) because I didn't research how the game would end.

The extended cut was made in such a way that a perfect ending should be possible in a game without import.

There's not much else I can say about this. This forum is not official support. The easiest way to increase your military strength is to modify your save file, which is the best advice you can get from a fellow player. If you are unhappy with the game mechanics and/or EA's business practice, I suggest sending feedback to them, either by contacting official customer support, or tweeting your concerns to @masseffect or @bioware.

  • You don't like the fact that EA integrated MP with the vanilla game's possible outcomes.  We get that.

You are under no obligation to install the EC, and under no obligation to participate in MP.

I have all but one of the possible achievements for ME3.  (Guess which one...)  That doesn't mean it isn't a great game or that I don't enjoy playing (and re-playing) it.  It means that there are certain aspects of what EA decided to present, as options, that don't appeal to me.  So I don't avail myself of them.

That's the beauty of "options", isn't it?  😕mileywink:
