Mass Effect One don't start.

Try downgrading your video driver. Nvidia's support of older games is awful.

Sometimes a game needs to be "run as Administrator" for it to work. Go to the install folder for you Mass Effect 1. right click + shift on the game and then click "run as administrator"

I tried to run it with the old driver and is the same. Also run as administrator and is the same problem. I installed Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 and work fine, but the first is not working.

A single try with a single older driver is useless.  It may take you three or four different ones before you get there. 

Also, the game cannot and will not do anything at all in Windows 7 or 8 without already having been patched. 

Hi, same problem. In Origin, mass effect 2 and 3 works fine mass effect 1 don't start. Reinstalled Directx 9 redistribuable, tried to install patch 1.02, it said the game is not found, made a "repair installation". Repair did not find any problem. Retried 1.02 update, don't find mass effect. Uninstalled the game then reinstalled it (redownloaded via the "my games" screen in origin). The game still don't start...

Someone have other solutions ?? There is a log file i could check ??

Tried compatibility mode on the executable to Windows xp and check run as adminmistrator and now the game launch !!
