Mass Effect PS3 Version downloaded and installed online pass and keeps asking for a redeem code?

I just purchased Mass effect 3 for the Ps3 and the online redeem code did not work, found out that i needed to download this at the store for free, I did this and it installed it. restarted the game and when i go to multiplay it still asks for a redeem code? How do i get this to work please? Thanks in advance
