Too Right!

IMHO the problem is about your file structure.

So you have a “C:\ drive for Windows and a normal “Program Files (x86)” folder there, and a second drive (probably) “D:\” with a “Game” folder.

I would suggest the following:

1. Make a backup of all save games from your Origin Games (just in case)
2. Close Origin (Right click on the Origin symbol in the task bar > close
3. Create a folder directly into the root (direct under the Drive letter) of your second drive and name that folder “Program Files (x86)” (without the quotes.)
4. Create a folder named “Origin Games” (without the quotes.) inside the “Program Files (x86)” folder you just created.
5. Relocate the folders inside your "Games" folder\Origin” folder and the folders inside the “Origin Games” folder of your “C:\” drive into the new “Origin Games” folder.
6. De install Origin from the Windows Control Panel.
7. Reboot
8. Make sure there are no “Origin” folders in “C:\Program Files (x86)” in “C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Local” and in “C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Roaming”
   To see the last two: Go to Control Panel > Folder Options > View.
   To show hidden files and folders, mark "Show hidden files, folders, and drives".
9. Reinstall Origin, Into the "Program Files (x86)” folder you just created. (on your second drive) Make sure you have the newest version.
10. Open Origin, in the Menu top left corner click “Origin” > “Application settings” > “Advanced”
11. Under “Your Games will be installed to the following location” Origin should already have the correct path to the “Origin Games” folder you created above. If not, set it manually.
12. Inside Origin, go to “My Games” right click on the games > Repair Game. (Origin will only download a few files.)
13. Try the ME 1 save function.

I did everything according to Your instructions 🙂

During the installation of Origin, it showed me some error about "incorrect path" or something like that (I'm sorry, I don't remember anymore), but the software installed nonetheless.

Unfortunately the saving in ME1 still doesn't work...

Well actually after re-installing Origin in the new folder, it only let me "download" the game (which didn't actually download it, just installed), and then I used the "repair" function. After that the DefaultEngine.ini file was back to it's original state (meaning the saves didn't work with that).

I also tried changing that one line the way we tried before, but the saving still doesn't budge T_T

Yay, sorry about that, it was late here.

Lets try something different. Please go to your in game settings (At the start screen > Options > settings > Gameplay.) Disable "Auto Save" > Apply > Test

If it not works restart the game > Test, restart again sett "Auto Save" back on > Test > Restart > test.

If that not works, create a "Save" folder under your "second drive:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect\BioGame" folder > Test.

Second thought. In your windows Explorer, right click on your Documents icon in libraries, in the windows left top corner under "documents library" > includes: X locations, click on "x locations", in the windows that opens, is your "C:\user\your user name\Documents" folder the "default save location"?

I'm sad to say neither of those solutions worked...

It's so weird, because I have played alll 3 Mass Effect games on my laptop already, just before I would use the CD version of ME1 and 2, but now for convenience I have bought the Origin version, and suddenly it won't work ☹️

Also, is there a "Bioware" folder in the root of your  "C:\" drive or anywhere else on that drive other than in  "C:\user\your user name\Documents"?

Yes,  "C:\user\user name\Documents" is my default save location. Should I add the new "save" folder location I made in the other drive, and make that the default?

And no, there are no other "Bioware" folders in my C: drive. Only in "My Documents"

It's worth a tray, but crate a "My Documents" folder in the root of your second drive and make that too your "default save location" folder. And be aware that the Windows save dialogue will always point you to that folder if it is the "default save location". I am not entirely sure if windows 7 will attempt to move the files from your old "default save location" to the new one.

And also not in your second drive?

Okay, so I created the new "My Documents" folder, and made it the default save location. 

I tried saving the game in ME1 again, but no results. Also, nothing has been added to the new "My Documents" folder.

And to answer Your question: no I don't have any Bioware folders in my second drive. 

I tried a crazy thing. Since I changed the "default save location" to my second drive's "Documents", I was able to edit the documents in the original folder. So I deleted the "Mass Effect" folder from the "Bioware" folder in "C:\Users\"name"\My Documents\". I wanted to see, if after "repair" and testing the saving, it will create the new folder in my new location. 

Unfortunately the saving didn't work, and for some reason the new "Mass Effect" folder has still been created under "C:\Users\"name"\My Documents\Bioware", instead of on "D:\My Documents"

This: x is the link to my one drive folder, there are 3 ME1 save games, put them into your My documents folder  (the old one) and see if you can load them.

I copied the saves. The game could "see" them, but wouldn't let me load any of them (kept saying it couldn't access the save file, and asked to select a different one). Also, it still wouldn't let me save a new game (it only saves the careers)

I live in a shared house with over 10 people. Could the fact that we have shared IP make Origin f*ck up the downloaded file for ME1? (even though everything else works properly)

I added 5 more files, they are from 2010 and early 2009. ME doesn't says it cant lode the files because of missing content, right?

No, ME only tells me: "The Save currently selected cannot be accessed. Please select a different Save". None of those saves You sent me could be loaded, the game could only "see" them

It doesn't say anything about missing content.

You tried the 5 other one also?

I think you said you already tried to reinstall completely. How fast is your interconnection?.

Yes, I tried every one of those saved games.

I re-installed ME about 4 times by now. My internet reaches up to 70MB/s, but it's very wavy (because of the big amount of people in the house, and the provider is rather bad)

Ok this time we will re-install a bit different.

1. set the "default save location" back to the original location.
2. Deinstall Mass Effect by Windows control panel.
3. Reboot
4. Download CCleaner and install (Note: CCleaner includes the option to install Google Chrome and make it your default browser. You will have to uncheck two checkboxes if you don't want this to happen.)
5. Start CCleaner and go to the registry tab.
6. Search for errors. After CCleaner is finished, click on repair errors (Important: CCleaner will ask you to save the registry changes DO IT! Make sure the registry save is created)
7. fix all errors. (there is a tab for this)
8. reinstall Mass Effect by Origin.
9. Try

I just did, and unfortunately still not working...

At first I thought it just has some issue creating the save file (because of those empty files, which disappeared after exiting the folder), but if it doesn't even load the existing ones (meaning the saves You sent me), then I have no idea, what's going on ☹️

It is a demanding Problem. 🙂

I tested a few thinks on my PC, maybe I found a workaround.

But just test one more thing before, because I am troubled by the fact that Mass Effect can't access the save files I send you.

Go to your Mass Effect "Save" folder right click on the Folder "properties" > "Security" >"Edit" > "Add" > "Advanced" > "Find now" search for "Authenticated User" click on it > "OK" the next window should have "Authenticated User" in it > OK again. 

Now you should be back in the "Permission for Folder" Window, click on "Authenticated User" give him every permission (you can't give him Special Permissions" that is OK) click on "OK" and in the next window OK again. > Test

If that not works do the same thing for "Everyone" instead of "Authenticated User"
