They seem committed to put it right.
Every other ME game they clearly stated there would be dlc and support for 12 months. The fact that they haven't said this for andromeda but have said no dlc is planned, speaks volumes.Mass Effects done. This is it. There is a skeleton crew working on the last patches and thats all. Everyone else has been moved to the new IP. This wasn't just a small downsize as is normal for post game release - this is a massive its all over downsizing. EA is systematically killing off bioware. This is what they do. Take over companies, make money in them then ditch them.Bubye ME ☹️ you were awesome while you lasted. I won't be touching the new IP. Not after they ditched MEA as a half finished, incomplete story / game. They get away with it once they'll keep doing it.I agree, this game just came out a couple months ago and is already abandoned. I'll be damned if I consider another EA or Bioware title in the future knowing they just abandon games if they don't get the exact reaction they want upon game release.
I really like Andromeda, I think they did a good job overall, but the fact that they just totally gave up does not encourage me to consider future titles by this studio.
Same ☹️.
It very much feels like a they have taken all our money and ran away with it this time, they waited until its too late to get a refund to tell us. So now we are left with an incomplete story and all we can look forward to is it being a slightly more polished incomplete story.
Im done with EA. No more money from me.
Gunna cancel my SWTOR subscription before it comes up again. They aren't getting another cent from me until they rectify this. They need to put some of our $$ back into Andromeda and at least finish off the Quarrian Ark and Mum cure storyline for Ryder. No story finish, no more money from me. Ever. Was never that into dragon age anyhow so wont bother me not buying the next one. As for the new IP, can't miss what Ive never played but I can say no to risking this kind of thing happening to me again. I love ME. I don't want to risk going through it again with something else.
@SmellMyBreakfast ALOT of us bought it digitally, and have played well past a refund point. if anyone DOES manage to get a refund from ea/microsoft/sony by all means let us know, but i dont see it happening with over 100 hours in the game.
I still would like to see some DLCs. I want to see a continuation of the Ryder Family Secret, more on the Kett and more on the Remnant/Jardaan.
But, first I want them to fix some things in the game still. The audio has problems, the lighting has problems, the UI still needs some improvements, the character models need to be improved and the character creator needs to be really improved.
That would make SP worth it to me to continue with for longer term and playing DLC. Without those changes I'll have to think long and hard if I really want to spend more money on the game. I've played too much to warrant a refund. I don't need one, but the game does need some major improvements in the mentioned areas before I would be willing to put anymore cash into it.
I've played a lot in the first 4-5 weeks but I see it's dropping now because I still can't make better looking characters and it's really a shame that they basically downgraded the graphics since Alpha apparently.
So please, first make the game better, then bring out the DLC.

Personally, this may aswell be the end of Mass Effect, because I can no longer trust the developers and publisher to release a complete working title that won't be broken later by shoddy patching and general internal incompetence.
Now that you mentioned this, the most alarming thing is that they thought strange they didn't get the reception they expected, high scores. It was strange, for them, to have that level of complaints. How does that statement translate to us then? Not a bright perspective, to say the least. It shows how divergent both views are.
And whiny crybabies who want refunds after they played over 100 hours once again demonstrate why we won't get a sequel. This is why we can't have nice things. If I was dev and read some of these posts I would change my job cause it's just disheartening how little people seem to think of it.
The game is nowhere so bad to ask a refund. I think they were going in the right direction with those patches.... but then the cold shower of today's news about Bioware future.
Honestly though, if they don't plan to expand upon the ending the game is useless right now. It ends on a so massive cliffhanger, so many questions unanswered, it was clear it was intended to have dlc's and sequels.
It is not a standalone game, the end is too open right now if no continuation is planned.
I seriously hope at EA they figure out they can't let the game die like that.
At least one dlc to bring some closure to the story before putting it to rest!
Related to the topic, another snippet:
"Electronic Arts pledges its support and satisfaction for BioWare, clarifying that the delay of the studio's new action IP isn't connected with the performance of Mass Effect Andromeda."
I agree with the most of it, though the technical hurdles are undeniable; and the patches are partly what the long-term support is for (and huuuge kudos for the Montreal team continuing to work on it!). I just hope this from EA is not corporate sugar coating...
Come on, show us some more of that galaxy. The BW Montreal team made DLCs for the trilogy too. 🙂
Well, you know in another thread around here, there are still people with a game freezing bug that doesn't allow them to keep playing the game since the release and it was not yet addressed. Although it might no be his case in particular, the non functionality is present to some people regardless how one flourishes the case or not.
So far, the most convincing argument that we're not getting DLC is the total silence of EA/Bioware on this issue.
This article has caused several discussions like this, especially on Reddit where hundreds of customers are asking about the future of this IP and the possibility of DLC content. If this report were even partially inaccurate then EA would have acted right away to put out a reply, but here we are with total silence.
EA has not acted to re-assure it's customer base that they haven't given up on the franchise, and lets face it.. that's pretty much the same thing as just confirming everything in the article. I'm hoping that I am wrong here, but it seems to me like DLC is not going to happen.
Exactly. The feeling that is expressed by silence is that EA doesn't care or that the statement is true, which, of course, most people don't want it to be.
Again, communication is their issue. Someone should patch EA/Bioware's Communcation.
Did you read the article?
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson told investors that the publisher is “very happy with how BioWare is doing, how BioWare is treating Mass Effect. And our expectations for Mass Effect are still strong for the future and the franchise overall.”
Or were you expecting a ME:A2 release date and trailer?
What if there is no DLC and the next game continues the current story?
The game is only a couple months old. Relax.
Sheesh. You should go check out what UbiSoft is doing with 'The Division' if you think BioWare is dropping the ball.
I read the article and what it doesnt say is ' andromeda is not on hold.'
Its just an attempt at PR. Having hopes for a future doesn't mean there will be one. Rumors hold true until they give us something concrete- like dlc or expansion announced
@SmellMyBreakfast it TRULY does feel like its not even a bioware game right? like they got some third rate ukranian studio to develop it and slapped a bioware logo on the box/splash screen (sort of like what once happened with flatout 3). i mean.. if you are known for dropping games of the highest quality and depth would YOU put your name on this thing?

That's your opinion, but it feels very Mass Effect, even if the science is a bit softer around the edges. Heck, it's way more what we expect of ME than ME1 was.

Glad I don't live in your world. Rumours aren't true without proof in mine.
But.... since you like them. BioWare Edmonton will be starting on an ME:A sequel by the end of 2017.

Yeah well thats on bioware and EA for the fact that they haven't dispelled the rumor of MEA being on hold with the simplest of responses - saying that it isn't. Otherwise the rumor becomes less rumor and more facts- right now the game is on hiatus with only minimum support remaining.
Dev tweets like 'we will still deliver what we promised.' Doesn't do much to dispell the 'rumor' either since it basically confirms it.

It gives a 3rd party quote of what someone supposedly said at an investor meeting.
That's really supposed to ease my mind set?
Since this article was published, fans of the series have been crazy with conjecture and EA has not said a word about it. Rumors are swirling and EA's mouthpieces are off hiding in a bunker somewhere.. that tells me that the article is sadly far more credible then some of us want to believe.
Now, if they release a statement and assure people that they aren't abandoning the franchise or the idea of DLC for Andromeda, then yes.. I'll take assurance in that. Until then, their silence only serves to amplify and confirm the fears and concerns of it's customer base. To be clear, I very much want to be wrong here. I want DLC for Andromeda and I want more Mass Effect games in the future. I LOVE this series, and am very unhappy at the possibility of it being put on the shelf.
But when rumors are swirling everywhere and EA won't even try to address them, it doesn't fill me with confidence. If the report was completely untrue or exaggerated, I would think they would have done an immediate press release to clarify that it's false. Instead, they have gone to ground and hid from the customer base.
Not a good sign.
I find it humous that you think that the EA / BioWare Marketing Department should be working on your schedule.
@TKMcClone at this point its debatable if they are "working" AT ALL!

I find it humorous that you mis-understood my post.
Good day then, we both got a good laugh.
