Problem with Mass Effect

Hello I've got a very odd problem with Mass Effect. I'll list full system specs before someone asks.

Core2 Quad Q6600

GTX 560 1gb Driver 306.97

Gigabyte EP45-UD3R

4gb DDR2 1066

Corsair Force SSD 60gb

Windows 8 Pro 64bit

Now that I have that out of the way let me state my issue. I have Mass Effect on my Origin Account as well as my steam account, and the problem occured both on the 1.02 Origin and 1.02 Steam versions. I tried multiple saves and deleting the INI files and retrying, problem presists. The issue is going up to the hotel on Noveria, I get in along with my Squad, the elevator doesn't move, and of course I can't do any actions as I am at that point where the elevator is supposed to move and my squad is immobile. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

    I've had this issue before and I fixed it by reloading an older save. Lucky for me, I quicksave more often than I shoot.

    I doubt this has anything to do with your system or your account.  I bought the disc version of the game years ago, don't play through Origin, and yet I've had the same problem (and more than once).

    As far as I can tell, it's random and occurs only on Noveria.  And it can happen anywhere on Noveria, not just the hotel.  Although it doesn't happen often, I make sure to save frequently while on Noveria and always before entering an elevator.  That's the only "solution" I've found.

    Forgot to mention... the same thing can happen after entering a tram.  So also be sure to save before using the trams.
