Quests with random locations

These stupid quests when you don't have any markers and you have to find 3-6 things on the map and scan/destroy/read datapads. Why did you put them in the game, devs? I really don't understand why was that nesessary to make locations random without any markers. I'm so mad right now, I have been trying to find remnant devices on Elaaden for two hours. Locations from youtube don't match with mine. Too much for being a completionist. It would even be enjoyable if I didn't have to search location maps for hours without any idea where to go. Most people won't even try to complete these, too much effort for almost no reward. Does anyone feel the same way?

A little tip, this worked for me, I go so frustrated by the volatile canisters mission that I almost gave up, but then I happened to drive by the same spot where I found the first one and look and behold, it had actually respawned so I could destroy it again and get one step closer to the end of the task, for fun I saved my game right next to that spot and hit the "Load Last Save", when it had loaded the save the canister was not there, but instead there was a crate with one of the "Mouse" datapads on top of it, I took the pad, saved my game and used "Load Last Save", sadly this time there was nothing there, but I used "Load Last Save" again and now there was a volatile canister there 🥳

So it seems these objectives share the same spawn point and that they can actually respawn randomly at the same spot, after a couple of more saves and "Load Last Save" I got all I needed for both tasks, was a bit frustrated that I didn't get any map location for the stash from the mouse task, but I figure that it might have been because I already looted it at some point as I had already been over most of the map 🤭

I actually use the same method to get all the Nomad paint jobs and weapon mods from the vendors on Nexus 😬

Oh yes not to mention scanning planets, flying aimlessly around the systems...

These quests make me really glad that im not OC about 100% completion. I do the ones I happen to find while on the way to other missions and if I finish the game at 94% instead of the current 99% max so be it, I really am not concerned with a couple of percent points lol rest of the game is long enough as it is 🙂

I hate, hate, hate these kind of missions. My first experience was 'Naming the Dead.' And it was horrible. I don't mind having to search for something but at least give us a general area. The mission icon flashing to let us know when we are getting 'warmer' would be great as well.

    Please fix this!

Bingo.  I found out really quick I basically just needed to drive around in a big circle once I figured out a couple of spawn points and I wrapped up all of these quests on each planet pretty quickly.  Didn't even have to load a save.  Doesn't mean I liked them though.  AAA games have been doing this since before Skyrim.  Even though the Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games, it had the same garbage fetch quests.  Devs put them in as filler and to encourage exploration - both terrible reasons.

  • Gosh this is so dumb!!!  LOL thanks for the tip, but think this is gonna be my last playthrough...  100% viability for all planets now, 2 more loyalty missions, 1 more ark left, main missions and I am done...  Gonna be the 1st human spectre after this, am done with pathfinding driving around the dessert and told off by ingrates isnt fun for me anymore.

  • I only became frustrated with these missions after I'd finished everything else on a planet, usually I thought they were a nice reason to force you out of your Nomad whilst exploring a planet. For some reason on Voeld I didn't find any (because I stayed in the nomad a lot) until the planet was mostly clear, that was annoying. I can see their intention to try and reward you getting out of the vehicle, but not having a 'zone' to look for them was a bit silly.

It might be my imagination but I'm sure when you 'completed' some of them it stopped camps of that variety being populated making it a bit easier to identify whether it was worth visiting from long distance.

What annoyed me more was that almost all of them were 'Ryder well done, if you find 3 of these I'll show you a navpoint' it was always 3 times, the only break in this was Little Mouse I think, I would have liked more variety and less formula.
