Re: Mass Effect 1 Will Not Launch

I bought it on Origin originally, but Origin launcher kept crashing recently so I upgraded/switched to the EA launcher.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the exact error msg I get trying to launch it from EA along with the text file you asked for.

Thank you for helping and I hope with your help I can get this sorted so I can play my game.

Your Windows 10 build is 19043, it should 19044 by now, do you block Windows feature updates on purpose?

It also looks like EA Desktop is crashing sometimes as well, did you noticed this crashes

There is a newer driver for your Gtx 1050 ti available. Download it from here.

Install the graphic driver this way:

    • shut down any not necessary programs in the background. (including your virus scanners real time protection)
    • shut down any and all system monitoring programs and any overlooking tools you might have.

    • Run the installation EXE > CUSTOM mode > preform a clean installation > install only the GPU Driver and the PHYSX software.

(don't deselect components you need even if the have the same version number, the installation program will de-install them if you do)
    • Reboot > test.

I have noticed the EA launcher crashing a few times, yes.

If my computer asks me to update I usually do so after a couple days to make sure any bugs get hammered out first, didn't realize I was behind a build though, no.

I followed your instructions to the best of my ability, with no hiccups, and did the reboot, and I still get the same message that a failure occurred, the same as before.

If it comes down to it and I just can't play the games anymore... well it'll suck but I guess I'll just have to not play ME anymore.  If you have any other ideas though I'm totally open to hearing them.

Sorry for the late reply, busy week.

    • I would recommend the following:
    • Make a backup of the most important data on your system.
    • Open the Media Creation tool website from Microsoft with the Microsoft Edge browser.
    • Click on "Update Now". (This will initiate the update process to the latest version of Windows).
    • Restart the computer after the update installation is complete.
    • Repair the game.

(Origin > Game Library > right click MELE > Repair)

(Steam > Game Library > right click at MELE > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

    • Test.
