Re: thoughts on the beam emitter

The Beam Emitter is just all together useless as it is right now.

They really need to take a good look at this augment because it's complete junk right now. An 80% damage reduction is just silly, it turns even the most powerful weapons in the game into a pathetic and useless item.

Not sure what they were thinking with this Augment, but the way it is right now, you're better off just not using it. If you want a beam weapon that doesn't consume ammo, that's pretty much what the Remnant Weapons are. You're better off just crafting one of those instead of trying to alter another weapon to mimic that style. You could put a Vintage Heat Sink on your Eagle to get to where you don't use ammo, but there is currently no way that I'm aware of to turn an Eagle into a Beam Weapon that doesn't use ammo.

Again though, I assume this is intentional because it's assumed that if you want a weapon with those properties, you will simply craft one that's designed that way. If the Beam Emitter is fixed, it will likely just be a fix to the damage and not the ammo properties of the augmentation. Try a Remnant Weapon with Electrical Conduits.. it will absolutely destroy Shields and non armored foes, have a very cool visual effect, and won't use ammo.

Well, they did rebalance the Resistance Fusion Mod. Now is +20 Resistance, -10% to damage across the board (-5% if you have the cryo perk).

I'm still not even sure what the idea of the [Beam Emitter] is meant to be, but I know it's not to remove the ammo usage, for that you'll need to choose the [Vintage Heat Sink] like DarthLama mentioned 🙂

At first I though it would do something like remove accuracy penalties or the projectiles' arcing trajectory, but that doesn't seem to be the case, so I'm at a loss 🤔

Isn't it a guaranteed instant hit? I mean, given it's a beam and not a projectile? Also, constant hit would supposed to take down shields faster? I'm not sure how it works in the game though. Rarely meddled with that augmentation because some weapons I chose to play worked wonders by themselves and other sort of augmentations.

During my 1st playthrough I thought it would be cool to make my blackwidow a laser sniper rifle...  Well think you can guess the outcome of that...  the frustration, the need to leave the quest,  to go all the way back,   leave the planet,, disassemble the damn thing and then reassemble with the correct augs and mods, then fly back down to the planet, all these whilst SAM telling me to check my emails lol...

Nope the guaranteed hit aug is the seeking plasma aug, and it not guaranteed, just like a homing missile it can still miss if it hits a barrier lol, I use it on my shotgun...  The beam emitter is useless.

The game will always have one augment that is the worst one.. that augment is the Beam Emitter.

It honestly has no upside at all, none. In it's current state, there is absolutely no reason to use it. Unless of course you like playing on Normal and having it feel like insanity due to the fact that you're doing next to no damage.

If that's your thing, cool.. otherwise chuck the Beam Emitter out of an air lock, it's nothing but junk.

Another thing that is worthless is the Ricochet system. Makes it impossible with a sniper to get headshots as it will now hit the ground in front of the target and bounce instead of going for the head which I aimed at. Even worse is that it slows down the projectile making it had to hit enemies that keeps moving around.
