Using a un modded bioengine.ini still caused crashes. My os is windows 10 64 bit and I.am using reshade with sweetfx. I have the executable running as admin and comparability set to windows xp sp3
Did the game not run without the comparability settings?
I also would suggest to move the corresponding .DLLs for reshade with sweetfx from the ME1 folder > test.

Before I change those values there are two entries for DepthBias, MinShadowResolution, and MaxShadowResolution. it occurs in [Engine.Engine] which is where I changed the values and [Engine.GameEngine] which I left alone. and I regards to your SweetFX and Reshade the only files I see are SweetFX.fx. and Reshade.fx in the Mass Effect Binaries folder

Think I fixed it....I went and totally closed Afterburner MSI and RivaTuner and ran the game and got through all the conversations on the Normandy without crashes. Hopefully it will stay that way. Thanks again for your help

Good to here, you're welcome, and thanks for the XP.
@SweetFX and Reshade
There should be a "d3d9.dll" in the Binaries folder, that is the injector for Reshade. To make sure you can look st the file description, it should say "Crosire's ReShade post-processing injector".
@Afterburner
You could try to disable the Origin overly if you have it enabled and then test if afterburner still causes the crashes. Of course only if you want Afterburner to run with ME1.
