I'd almost entirely given up hope until I came back and saw this, and imagine my surprise when for the very first time the EA App didn't just outright fail to install Mass Effect 1.
...of course, now my problem is that it's stuck on "Preparing" forever and still doesn't actually download, but at least that's a different problem. The EA App giveth and it taketh away, I guess.

Very interesting, tagging @EA_Shepard to this for reference.

@SA_Trilobite (turns out the quick fix for me was to tell it to NOT download Pinnacle Station even though it defaults to including it. ME1 on its own seems to be downloading and installing normally!)Same for me! Otherwise the download size is 0 bytes, it's stuck at preparing, and I think it tries to download the DLC before the main game. 😛

I have been trying to post this since yesterday, but for some reason, my posts would not go through even though they said they did.
I am not sure if this one will even show.OK, posting worked this time. In any case, I was also able to confirm that it started working yesterday. The aforementioned Pinnacle Station bug happens to me, but unchecking it allows me to download just fine and the game has Pinnacle Station as part of its Downloadable Content section anyway, so it's a minor issue. - EA_Shepard2 years ago

A few years ago they updated the version of the game which included the DLC in the game download so it wasn't a separate one. If you run into any other issues though let us know

Hi,
Me too I had a problem downloading Mass Effect (2007) with EA App. I got stuck with "quick fix for me was to tell it to NOT download Pinnacle Station" as I didn't know how to tell it. And I got stuck installing Origin as when I ran it the installer wanted me to update Origin which failed miserably.
So I did the following and ME1 downloaded and installed correctly:
- exit EA App
- in "<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect\__Installer" there are two prerequisites that must be installed
- in "<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect\__Installer\vc\vc2005sp1\redist" run "vcredist_x86.exe" and install it
- in "<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect\__Installer\directx\redist" run "DXSETUP.exe" and install it
- in "<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect\Binaries" run MassEffectConfig.exe, change settings and save them
- run and login to EA App,
- download and install ME1
This means that you should have some kind of prior ME1 installation. To me it didn't help installing VC 2005 redistributable and DX from files I found on the web.
Hope this helps some people.
