eh spending 400k and getting nothing but blue cards is still kind of a kick to the nuts.. particularly when every now and then ill proc a weapon part V (meaning there are still those in the pool). i play ALOT and i only get about 2 n7 cards a day (@11k apex).

If you buy the 50k/100k packs right away that's the most inefficient way you can possible go. Buy the 5k packs till you got all commons, then buy 20k packs until uncommons are complete, and so on. I started this way and after maxing out all common characters i got a weapon/mod in every pack until all commons where maxed out. Now working on uncommon. You do get the odd rare every so often even in the lower packs.

Yeah, that's how it worked in ME3MP too, cheap packs til you get nothing but supplies from them, then progress on to the next rank of pack and keep rolling like that til you're at the 50k ones - there are tonnes of weapon mods in each category too which is kind of lame when you're chasing a weapon or UR character

The OP raised some points that seem to be shared across the web. Some thoughts on all of this:
1. If enemies are stronger than you- pick the right kit. Sounds obvious, but engineer does better against synthetics than against organic. (Just saying)
2. Know the mechanics of priming and detonation. A biotic throw can detonate the flamethrower attack of a Krogan Merc (for example)
3. Probably should cooperate as a team and let others know your plans so you can make this easier. That's what the headset is for, not for complaining you don't have a Thonkin X.
4. It takes time to unlock stuff. This "I've been playing for 2 weeks and don't have all the characters/ weapons/ gear" thing is just hilarious. Even mainstream game reviewers think this is a thing. It is not.
5. The RNG is your master, and you will need to work with it. The RNG decides who gets a Krogan and who gets a Salarian. (... at least I haven't unlocked 16 Volus adepts in the last 20 packs)
I was surprised how easy 'Unwavering' was on this game. Didn't expect to be doing Gold matches in 14 minutes so soon. BUT that was more the team I fell in with on those PUGs. It is the TEAM who wins the match. 5 Gold extractions is several orders of magnitude easier than a SP insanity run.
If we must compare to ME3 MP; in those days it took 600-800 hours to unlock all the goodies, and another 400-600 hours to level it all up. I remember chatter (almost 5 years ago) on BSN boards about how ME3 bronze was impossible to solo. So if it's hard- good. You can practice.
If you find Beserkers annoying or Nullifiers frightening etc... etc... you need to figure out how to take them down. IMHO gold on Andromeda is easier than ME3 gold, but you need a good set of teammates. Level 1 Adepts with a Predator shouldn't be playing gold. If it's too hard you need to play more and think about HOW you play. This game does require thought in combat. It is also a CO-OP game. Some people work well with a team, those are the ones you want.
If you must compare to ME3 - the MP was unique in the type of player it attracted. Someone who would (for example) play a volus engineer and know that they would score at the bottom of the list; but their shield boost would save the eggshell thin Drell with the BWX who was sniping the Brutes. Score means nothing in ME3 (well it means something, but not what you think).
Having said all of that, I do think a Crusader II with Cryo I on a Krogan Merc with weapons training would one shot a Bronze mook. It currently does not - so maybe a Crusader buff is due
