This game still have many bugs. If u create player and skip to 50. Do not use skill points and icon at same time. Cause its will lose your icon bonus.

Without the traits you will be level 80, but add three silver traits provided with the fast forward then you’ll be 86.
I have made a player reach level 100 after this update, and every player I've made has the ability to "skip the rise" and boost to xp level 50. Once you upgrade your skills and equip 3 silver traits (every trait starts at silver) your player will be an overall of 85.
86 if you put all skill points in and 3 silver traits
It's seems that on your main character you made a error of updating skill points and icon at same time which will cause to lose your icon bonus and thus level 96 not level 99. In your second player the Max should be 96 not 99 but because you had the beginning error of losing icon bonus it's switched becoming 99 but not having all of your icon full filled. It's sounds like a mess and a complex bug. I do read people not having enough to get their second icon maxed and at level 96. If you got a 99 than go with that or if you like your 96 player better it's like me on 98 but should be 99. The clothes thing never happened to me. I never did a second icon thing or made another player, just use one and avoid the bugs. I kept it simple and made a player I wanted a rim protector with evolution is what I like.
Seems that you got combo bugged. Don't feel bad I also got bugged with the dreaded make a player in demo and now I'm at 98 instead of 99 overall even though I'm maxed at 100. In the game lobby Im at level 98 not 99 but in edit player I'm at 100.
I think it's just a visual glitch bug and doesn't impact how you are if you have skills maxed out and traits max out in gold as well as your icon maxed. Some people get lucky and get level 99 with all the skill points used and traits in gold and icon maxed, at least 1 icon, but then don't have enough to make the second icon maxed. Other people create characters from full game and can only have a 96 or 98 while others get a 99. There are many odd bugs like these that should get addressed either in NBA Live 2019 or in Live 2020 hopefully to be resolved.
If you can and want to start all over than I guess thats one way to go, otherwise your stuck like I am waiting for a fix from a future patch.
