In game purchases not working

I can’t make any purchases. It immediately kicks back with the failed purchase dialog. This has been happening a lot lately but now happens 100% of the time. No combination of rebooting iPad, quitting and restarting game, etc., has helped. I’ve even deleted and reinstalled the app on my iPad.

When I tap the purchase button, I IMMEDIATELY get the failed popup. Trust me when I say there is nothing wrong with my payment method. There’s a problem with the application trying to initiate the purchase.

I don’t understand what’s happening here but it’s very frustrating.

    I may have found a bizarre solution here, posting in case someone else is in the same situation.

    In the game, log out of your current account. Fully shut the game down. Launch it again. This time, create a new guest account. Make a purchase with the guest account. It’ll fail, but you’ll still be rewarded with whatever the purchase was supposed to be (bizarre lol). Then, log out of the guest account and log back in to the regular account.

    Purchases will work again.

    Definitely something strange with the game. *shrug*

    The response that I got was “contact iTunes” - this has nothing to do with iTunes as other applications and games work fine, to include those from EA. And the tech closed the ticket.

    EA told me to contact iTunes and closed the ticket immediately. iTunes said as this isn’t a problem with me making a purchase in the iTunes store, and other applications in-app purchases work fine, it’s something I need to contact EA about.

    Ok. One star rating incoming. Can’t believe I wasted so much time/energy/money on this stupid game. What a joke.

    I'd hate to have you go the route if you have a lot of important data or apps installed on the iPad, but have you tried factory resetting it? If you're able to make purchases in-game on the iPhone, it doesn't sound account related and more device related.

    Thanks. Sadly it started happening on my iPhone as well shortly after I initially posted this (is buried in a comment on this thread somewhere). I'm 2 for 2 with my purchases being bricked by a specific game, and the official EA support basically blew me off, so while I appreciate the suggestion I'm not going to go down a rabbit hole of wiping my iPhone or iPad and doing a factory restore just to make in game purchases for a single game work.

    Sorry, not trying to give you attitude or anything, I know you're trying to help, this is just a really frustrating situation. Frustrating enough that I wish I could do more to warn consumers other than give a bad review.

    That's super odd it worked that way, really appreciate you coming back to the forum post to update us on it. Marking this as a solution so it shows up easier in search results in the event others are experiencing it.


    Glad you eventually got it fixed, hopefully that doesn't happen again. Good luck this upcoming season, too!
