Pay-to-win is ridiculous

So I feel that EA learned nothing from Battlefront 2 and pay-to-win. I know I’m not talking about BF2, but micro-transactions are still very much alive even in NBA Live Mobile. I say this because look at the current Quantum Time event.

I’ve played the event everyday since t started a little less than a week ago. This means that I have gotten every free point that the game gives you. Unfortunately the event ends in three days and I need 20k to get the 107 Leap token for 107 PF Larry Bird. I was looking to see how I could get 20k and I noticed that there is conveniently a pack in the store that gives exactly 20k and a bunch of packs that in reality have a 0% chance of giving anything. Now, I find that odd because I need 20k and here is a $40 pack, but I have no money.

Another example is if you look at the Showdown leaderboards the top 5 people are those with the 110 OVRs and the really high OVR people. Most of the people are from packs that EA so called “updated,” like all the Daily Beats packs. It now takes forever to get one NBA Legends pack (I started getting tokens since April and not all my work is just completely undermined) and I decided to just buy the last three tokens for the Flashback pack.

i feel like EA does this on purpose by making stuff a literal pain in the * to get so you will be so stressed about it that you are willing to spend $40 every event, week after week, to get a player in a game that does absolutely nothing for anybody. This isn’t League, where if your good you can get picked up by a team. No, it’s for a garbage mobile game that takes up a fuckton of space on my phone and the only reason I keep it there is because i haven’t found a new game to replace it. And what’s funny is that this system goes across all of EA’s mobile games: Fifa Mobile, NFL Showdown (which they * broke), and NBA Love Mobile.

EA, this is a problem and you people need to fix this. First off, you can stop making every important milestone in your games a just absolute pain in the * grind so that you have to spend hard earned money, both in-game currency and IRL. Second, if you people are just obsessed with getting people to spend a small fortune almost, then lower to price to soemthing reasonable like $5 or $10 and not $40 and $100. That’s selfish and greedy. And lastly but unrelated, fix your still broken and stupid Showdown matchmaking. Why is a 108 who barely plays Showdown because it’s broken, getting matched against a 110 OVR? That’s stupid. Fix it😑

thank you,

  • I agree. This is likely my last season and I'm done. I don't need an alternative game. This game is a time consuming life-sucker that also wants to suck your pockets. One particular reason why it's not worth it is: if you do cash out on players to get ahead by raising your OVR, the time spent enjoying those players is fleeting. Before you know it the bar is raised again and the players you recently acquired are useless. It's a never ending rat race that capitalizes on the fundamental human needs of your esteem and self fulfillment.

  • On one hand, I agree with most of what was said. I've spent a lot of real money on this game in the past. More than I care to mention. In doing this over 3 seasons, I've come to realize this season that it's not worth it. The reality is, player stats are more or less pointless. As ridiculous as it is, a team's ovr rating is really all that matters. This is what fuels micro purchases. On the other hand, if not for the P2P players NBALM may not exist. Kind of a double edged sword. As frustrating as this game is, it's the best free basketball game on the market to date. My advice, love it, hate it, play it.

  • @ThatGuy049Unfortunately, your right. The other NBA game is terrible and has too many parts. And every other mobile sports game is bad; except for the ones made but EA. And they capitalize on that. So until they fix that, the game is always gonna seem somewhat forced and not completely enjoyable.
