Re: In game purchases not working

@stircrazzzy I should mention I’m able to make purchases from same account, same credit card, but on my iPhone. It’s definitely an iPad only issue as it’s presenting itself to me. And to be clear, I can in-app purchases from other games on my iPad with the same bank/credit account details just fine.

  • Hi, thanks for your reply. In my second message on this thread I did state that I’m able to make the purchases on my iPhone no problem, just not on the iPad.

    Hey @EA_Barry , I am able to make purchases on the NBA Live Mobile app on my iPhone but not my iPad. Thanks.

  • Hi @EA_Barry , I can now no longer make purchases from iPad or iPhone. There is no way I can make any more purchases at all. I keep getting the immediate popup. There is clearly something wrong. Please advise, thanks.

    @stircrazzzy Have you reached out to Apple Support? Even though you're purchasing something from our game, the transaction goes through the Apple store with the credit card information you have on file with them. There could be a restriction on your account.

    Hi. The transaction isn’t even attempted. The moment I click on the purchase button it kicks back the error message. Other applications don’t have this issue. For some reason randomly last night I was able to make a purchase but once again today it is just failing. Other EA games even work just fine, it’s just this game that has gotten into some weird state where purchases no longer work.

    Hmmm that's really strange. I'm afraid we're limited on what we can do here on the forums in terms of account changes, thus I recommend reaching out to our Support team at our Help site or on Twitter so an EA Advisor can pull up your account to determine if there is anything restricting this purchase. It can be done via in-game by visiting Settings>Help or through the options below. 

    Please keep us updated here on the forums with the outcome of this. If you know what fixed it when contacting them it would be helpful to others here on the forums if they stumble across the same issue.

    The response that I got was “contact iTunes” - this has nothing to do with iTunes as other applications and games work fine, to include those from EA. And the tech closed the ticket.

    EA told me to contact iTunes and closed the ticket immediately. iTunes said as this isn’t a problem with me making a purchase in the iTunes store, and other applications in-app purchases work fine, it’s something I need to contact EA about.

    Ok. One star rating incoming. Can’t believe I wasted so much time/energy/money on this stupid game. What a joke.

    I'd hate to have you go the route if you have a lot of important data or apps installed on the iPad, but have you tried factory resetting it? If you're able to make purchases in-game on the iPhone, it doesn't sound account related and more device related.

    Thanks. Sadly it started happening on my iPhone as well shortly after I initially posted this (is buried in a comment on this thread somewhere). I'm 2 for 2 with my purchases being bricked by a specific game, and the official EA support basically blew me off, so while I appreciate the suggestion I'm not going to go down a rabbit hole of wiping my iPhone or iPad and doing a factory restore just to make in game purchases for a single game work.

    Sorry, not trying to give you attitude or anything, I know you're trying to help, this is just a really frustrating situation. Frustrating enough that I wish I could do more to warn consumers other than give a bad review.

    I may have found a bizarre solution here, posting in case someone else is in the same situation.

    In the game, log out of your current account. Fully shut the game down. Launch it again. This time, create a new guest account. Make a purchase with the guest account. It’ll fail, but you’ll still be rewarded with whatever the purchase was supposed to be (bizarre lol). Then, log out of the guest account and log back in to the regular account.

    Purchases will work again.

    Definitely something strange with the game. *shrug*

    That's super odd it worked that way, really appreciate you coming back to the forum post to update us on it. Marking this as a solution so it shows up easier in search results in the event others are experiencing it.


    Glad you eventually got it fixed, hopefully that doesn't happen again. Good luck this upcoming season, too!
