Blocking shots requirement

I have started a season as defense and I have an X-Factor that requires blocking 20 shots. This wouldn’t be a problem if the AI was like real hockey players and actually SHOT THE PUCK from anywhere beyond the top of the crease. However the AI knows that it is all but impossible to score on the new goalies with a straight shot so they don’t even bother thus as a defender it is extremely difficult to block shots.
