Chel Changes and Fixes - Detailed (Realistic)
I want to put a list of the most realistic easy changes that the Devs could do and I'd encourage people to post their ideas below. But something that is not reinventing the wheel because that's a bit much to try and implement.
Clubs
- Include all game strategy adjustments
- Currently there are only like 60% of the changes available to set, maybe I'm crazy but I want to set all of them beforehand and not have to mess with them on the fly
- Side note to this, it would be cool to have a "loadout" for the strategy that you preset, for instance one being aggressive, another being normal and defend lead. That way you can change your strategy to how the game is going instantly. You could add this to the strategy change when hitting B/O at a timestop, name it Strategy loadout etc.
- More logos or a custom logo creator
- This wouldn't have to be anything crazy like photoshop. Something as easy as 5-10 layer drag and drop objects and color them would be cool. Or we can have the community create logos before the season and if they get approved, they can be imported into the game? This might be an example of an idea too big but the bottom line here is that I think the logos need to have more options.
- Better Jersey editor
- So there are a bunch of presets to use, but I think something more granular would be nicer. Example - Edit sleeves, Edit front, Edit back, Edit Nameplate, Edit string/collar. So you're basically taking all the jerseys now and just cutting them up into sections. I feel like that's not difficult right?
- Color Wheel has to go, give me RGB editor or something with color codes. This use the joystick and let go on a color is terrible.
- Club Stats During Game
- So as it stands the only time the club stats page pop up is when either a person gets their first or when they pass someone on that stat. I'd like to see it more frequently; I feel like as the season goes on I never see it pop up anymore and I always thought it was a really cool add this year. If you don't want to make it after every goal, why not show it pop up on any number in the "tens" basically any number ending in 0 like 10, 30, 120, 240, 320, 550, etc
- Goalie Mask Customization
- Everyone's club goalie is a white mask, they finally let us change the goalie pads and have them stick. Next up is obviously the goalie mask. Now you can simply let the user put on a generic goalie mask but what about creating it with your logo on it etc. Going along with the new logo creation you could have the ability to put a few layers of stuff on the mask. That would be so cool! Closeups of the mask during the pregame too would be a nice added touch.
Hockey Bags/Challenges
- Challenges for specific type of unlockables
- Create a bag for each type of the unlockables for players ex: Celebration, Intro, Skater Gear, Goalie Gear,
- Last year I legit went my entire time playing only getting 2 gloves unlocked and this year took forever to get any cellys so it would be nice to target some that you want and the current challenges are riddled with stuff I'll never do. I pretty much only play clubs so the drop-in challenges suck and there are only 3 for clubs! Let players choose the reward bags per challenges or something

- We can improve this, Just make this screen 2 columns. The bottom is the bags and the top shows the contents. You select up and down and then can scroll that list side to side, hitting A simply opens the bag and puts the contents above, you can do a small animation to make them pop up but I think people just want to see their stuff and not have to go into all these screens and wait for animations to display what they got you know?

Gameplay/In-Game Edits
- Edit CPU Teammate Loadout
- This has to be one of the easiest to implement, simply add the ability to set your loadout for your CPUs. Even if this was just setting them to player type and not full on edit like: Def Defenseman, Enforcer, Dangler, etc. That would be so much better than how it is now. This includes the goalie build too.
- Pulled Player Goalie Getting Skater Loadout
- If you play goalie, you know that when you are pulled and get to play extra attacker you get a slow as hell no abilities guy that is usually right-handed. If no CPU loadout then at the very least let the goalie pick which skater loadout will come on the ice as the extra attacker when pulled
- Allow Player to Control Goalie for Penalty Shot
- Unless goalie play is fixed then I'd much rather control the goalie on penalty shots then the CPU. It feels like everyone out there has a cheese shot that gets an automatic goal this year so you'd have at least a shot at saving it if you were a user. You could add this to the Defensive strategy adjustment, that you set by the club and then in game hit X/Square to make the adjustment for it, say "Goalie Control on PS" -CPU/-LW/-C/-RW/-LD/-RD - You could even make this screen pop up right before the shot too
- Goalie Strategies
- Speaking of goalies, you can set CPU strategies for things like dump in vs take etc in Club Strategies. How bout setting the mind of the goalie? Cover One-Timer vs Shot, Breakaway. I mean really how bout some goalie play where they don't get beat on every short side shot, or every pull back forehand cheese? Idk what the perfect answer is but goalie play has been as terrible as ever
- Better Poke Animations / Less Warp Possessions
- By this I mean, when you poke the puck and the player is able to recover and swing the puck instantly. When poking the puck there should be sometimes where the puck jumbles in the air with no possession etc like real life. Too many times a poke results it the puck moving a tiny bit and the guy being able to grab and swing it in a direction in this real unrealistic manner. If you've played you know what I mean.
- Pokes have changed drastically, which is good and bad to me. I think it needs tweaked, you slow down way too significantly but on the flip side I think people are getting way too many pokes done from behind which make no sense. This might be a bigger ask but the direction of the poke I think matters, if you are behind someone then the success rate should be lower. I also think poking while skating should have the speed bumped a bit
- Cheese Pass for Added Speed
- The whole saucer pass in front of you to gain speed has to be addressed. From what I understand you get a speed boost when you don't have the puck and you get slowed down with it so the concept is to gently pass the puck in front of you so you get this huge speed boost. It's super cheesy and really dumb that this is even a thing. Just simply fix this by making the skating the same or don't allow it to be able to saucer pass like that in front of you.
- More Detailed Stats Intro
- I saw @jammer449 mention this in his post, I love it. Have some vs stats and player stats etc. Maybe they weren't referring to chel but how cool would it be to know you faced someone before and how you did etc? You could end up brewing a rivalry.
- Scoreboard could use an overhaul
- During some shots it can go to the scoreboard and have an infinite loop lol. That looks cringy bad, like how bout the score up there displayed or get loud or something.
- Maybe you could set this for the club to select different templates?
- The Dreaded "Double Pass" Fix
- Still not fixed in general gameplay is the double pass, you call for the pass while it is being passed to you and you pass it forward. Simply make it so you can't pass until you have the puck, or limit the time you can hit the pass before you have the puck etc
- Stick-Lifting Slashing Issue
- About 80% of stick lifts are slashing penalties this year and it's bad. Maybe we can combat this with different taps of the A button? Single tap A gets you a light stick lift that might jar them for a moment but they probably won't lose possession and quickly double tapping A will result in a hard stick lift that's like it is now. Idk that seems easier to implement? Anyone else have an idea?
- Cancel Shots?
- So you're waiting for the one-timer and you're holding up on the right stick, then the puck comes around the boards but your player is still in shot mode so 3-5 seconds after you already let go of the right stick your guy gets the puck then just shoots. Why?? If you let go of the right stick just turn off any pending shot, this is so dumb and infuriating.
New Ideas
- Club Tournaments
- I think of this like Rocket League, if you've never played RL let me explain: There are timeframes each night for tournaments that you can participate in and if you win you get a badge for it. It doesn't have to be exactly like this but simply having a tournament and say the winner gets some hockey bags or a stat saying they one would be cool. You could have it for 6s, 3s and well 3s elim is already a tournament everytime so maybe just 6s/3s
- Shootout Mode
- A little 10 round shootout so it's not so short I think. Or maybe if you do it with a group you can do 3 shots per user or something. Idk I think shootouts can be fun and it's gotta be super easy to throw this in Chel.
I'd love to hear what others think and if they have any additional ideas etc.
