Cross Generation PS5 and PS4

No, you can't. You can only play with people playing the PS5 version of the game.

The X-Factor version gives you both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game to download. They are separate games. You CAN play with PS4 players if you download and play the PS4 version of the game that you get with X-Factor edition.

Both PS4 and PS5 users can buy the X-Factor edition, but ONLY PS5 consoles can download and play both versions (PS4+PS5). You can buy it on PS4, but you'll only be able to play the PS4 version. If you later get a PS5 you'll still have access to the PS5 version to download (as well as the PS4 version).

That is where all of the questions I posted derived from and as I stated a bit confusing as to who you can play WITH (Not against) with PS4 and PS5 consoles and versions

I was asking for clarification if NHL23 will do what NHL22 does currently - Will playing the PS5 X-FACTOR of the game on the PS5 platform.
Will it "Sync" as it does now with PS4 Consoles. Cross Generation console gaming. PS4's with PS5's.

As I said, I think we need a WHO you can play WITH chart. As there is for who you can play against.

But - if true, the #2 post - suggests that the PS5 X-factor version is TWO separate games to download and are both stand alone. So - if you want to play with PS4 console players, you must use that version with your PS5. AND, they are not progress co-mingled. So you must build up your character in BOTH versions. So, basically you are buying two separate games with NHL23 X-factor edition.

I can't find any official wording from EA that PS5 x-factor version "dual entitlement" is TWO SEPARATE games to be downloaded separatly and progress in each version must be accomplished separately. There is no official wording from EA that I can find that PS5 consoles playing PS4 versions of the game will "SYNC" with each others generation consoles to be able to play WITH each other - as it does now in NHL22.

NHL 23 will work the same as NHL 22 did in that regard. The PS5 and PS4 versions are independent of each other. You can play the PS4 version on PS5, but your progress and content won't be synced across both versions. For cross-platform matchmaking, there is a chart showing who you can play with in that article I linked.

@EA_Aljo will there be PS4 version only available for PS5 user from day one? This wasn’t the case with NHL22, and forced me to buy Xfactor version.

You can play the PS4 version on PS5. The X-Factor edition comes with both the PS4 and PS5 versions.
