Hey, @BIGRlTCHY
I just wanted to thank you for the fantastic feedback. Normally, posts here are more of a rant where this was very well said and constructive. I'm going to make sure this gets passed on. Really appreciate the time you took to compose this.
I know it's been a rough year for many of you and we all hate to see that happen. We're very aware of the sentiment around the game currently and our lack of communication hasn't helped. I'd love to see us do better with keeping you all informed. I very much hope that happens.
Thanks again. The feedback is sincerely appreciated.

Just gonna throw a reminder out that another poll was conducted a while ago about drop in lobbies were favoured over 4x more than the current matchmaking engine.

I have to second or third or fourth this sentiment. I have played the NHL series since day one. NHL 93. Obviously with Technology, the game has changed in so many different ways. But this series has felt doomed from the botched release of 2015 and onward. I play this game every year for one reason... Online. a friend of mine and myself, set up or EASHL team and play because of the camaraderie. Made a great friend just from playing this game. But we complain every single year because there is clearly no drive to be innovative, to be unique, to be better. I don't know if that is a DEV team issue, or a leadership issue, or what. But it has hampered this game for almost ten years and that to me, is just unacceptable.
Consumers pay a lot of money to purchase this game every year, and it's essentially a roster update year in and year out. The BAP mode is copy and paste for the past 3 years! How is that something the DEV team thought was a good idea?! I can only speak for myself, but if I'm in a position of leadership and development at EA, and my team brought essentially the exact same game modes and style... I'd lose my mind! In 2015 when the port to next gen (PS3 to PS4) was made, the excuse was not enough time. (THEY HAD TWO YEARS) Now the port to next gen, (PS4 to PS5) seems like it went better, but still nothing new.
Fans of the Hockey gaming want competition just so EA has something to work towards, instead of coasting through and collecting our hard-earned money. The NBA 2K series has zero competition, and while there are people who complain about small game play issues, there is something significantly new every single release. MYPLAYER mode, online, even in their MYTEAM mode. Years ago, there was an all-star weekend in the NHL series, Outdoor games, World cup or international play. I get trying to get the rights to these things are expensive, but having them at one point, to take them out of the game is either lazy, or just trolling fans.
I know for myself I just want this game to be fun and to be engaging. It hasn't been for some time. And that's a shame!

Am I missing something? What information, specifically, is EA holding back? Who is it that needs to do better for customers to feel like they want to buy again at a later date?

Constructive feedback from someone who cares;
I’ve been playing since the original on Sega Genesis. Yes I’m old.
A significant issue with the game is the constant adding/removing features year after year. Very frustrating and doesn’t make any sense. Just stop doing that. Also frustrating and downright unacceptable is the same glitches remain in the game year after year. Like the “Game Speed” glitch found in offline Play Now mode. Im not going to mention any issues with online play because they’ve been discussed thousands of times already.
4 small/fine details that would go along way;The game has felt stale since NHL 15. One of the reasons for this are several small details (I’ll mention 4);
1. Goalie Masks. Most of the goalie masks have now been in the game for 10 plus years. Simply changing the masks every couple years would go a long way to “freshen” things up.
2. Goalie Pad Color and Mask when wearing alternate jersey. Big example is Canucks black alternate.
3. Backup Goalies on the Bench. They ALWAYS wear a ball cap IRL.4. Player Bio Pics. Zero excuse for having the blank player bio pic (Especially Star players like Beniers & Kuzmenko).This is something that again has reappeared year after year.
Just 4 small examples that would go along way to making the game feel fresher. The fine details Do matter.
