Deflecting the puck
I hear this all the time but not sure if it's true can you use the right stick to deflect the puck better by timing it when the puck gets to you

This is not true. Timing the right stick does not improve deflections.

The only thing I've found that really increases your probability of a good deflection is ensuing you have vision control held down so that your player is facing the incoming puck.
