As far as LT'ing... I feel like it's a good thing for the game. It COULD be tweaked a little bit to make it more realistic but I wouldn't want it completely nerfed. It's definitely one of the few things that separates good OVP players from average ones. It actually amazes me how little I see people using the Crosby "half-pivot mohawk" LT move on the side boards given how effective it is at misdirecting your opponent.
As a matter of fact, THAT'S what we need more of in NHL: Tools for MISDIRECTION. We need more ways to TRICK our opponents instead of relying on physical mechanics that can be cheesed or what have you.

@MordecusCompletely disagree. The poke-check is FAR FAR FAR less effective than it was last year. The speed-reduction makes a huge difference.

It's just this kind of garbage that people hate to deal with:

@KidShowtime1867 Would you mind posting an explanation on how you create these clips? I think it would improve the quality of discussion if more people knew how to do this because they are really good at illustrating problems. The native "upload a video" feature of the message board is a mess...

Yea no problem.
These instructions apply to Xbox, but I'm sure the Playstation users can find equivalent settings for capturing gameplay.
Firs of all, make sure your console is set up to automatically upload clips. This makes things a little easier

Head over to https://www.GameClips.io
Enter your Gamertag in the top right corner and search. This will bring up all of your recent captures. (It sometimes takes 10-15 minutes for my clip to appear on this site. YMMV)
In order to quickly convert these to GIFs, I use a program called 'GifCam' - https://blog.bahraniapps.com/gifcam
Essentially, this app allows you to capture your desktop and save to a GIF. So what I do is navigate to the clip I want to use, fire open GifCam - put it over top of the video and capture the sequence I want. Then I save the GIF to my computer.
After that, I upload the gif to https://www.imgur.com
After you upload the gif, you right-click it and select 'copy link'. (This will copy a link that ends in .MP4, but we'll get to that in a sec)
Now - to add the GIF to your message on the forums - click the 'HTML' tab and use HTML to add your GIF:
(NOTE: Change the extension on your link from MP4 to GIF or else it won't load)

Seems complicated, and there might be an even easier way of doing this, but it's just getting things set up that takes the most time. Once you get in to a groove in this setup, it's super easy to get clips.

As a matter of fact, THAT'S what we need more of in NHL: Tools for MISDIRECTION. We need more ways to TRICK our opponents instead of relying on physical mechanics that can be cheesed or what have you.The only time I noticed the poke-check reduction is if they're trying to pokecheck on the break-in with only 1 or 2 defensemen back. It is still JUST as effective when opponents throw up the full neutral zone trap at the blue-line. It's also still just as devastating when people skillzone in front of their net - I face opponent after opponent where I try to get creative by setting up cycles, or D to D passes at the point; and all they do is:
* stand still in front of the net
* pokespam any time the puck comes near* crank AI aggression up to the max and wait for the AI to take the puck away.
It's far far too effective because the pokespam auto-aims and stops everything. I just don't think this type of passive play where you're basically letting the AI play for you and mindlessly mashing 1 button should be rewarded. And yet it is. And note that the slow-down does nothing if you're standing still (which is what they're doing). The pokecheck was the right thing to focus on; but they came up with the wrong solution - what they should have done is remove the auto-aim and make a bad poke result in far more tripping penalties than it does now.Regarding LT - I don't have a problem with the half-pivot-mohawk (Crosby is also who comes to mind to me). I use it a lot myself, to me this is line with the spirit of LT which is "Vision Control". What I have a problem with is the type of gameplay @KidShowtime1867 highlighted in his example clip - if you try that type of gameplay in real life; you're going to lose the puck and/or get laid out. it is harder to control the puck in real life when backskating because you have to pull with the blade of your stick. Obviously NHL-caliber players are very good at this, but it''s still harder to control the puck, even for them, then when skating forwards. This is not the case in NHL23 - whether you're skating forward or backwards, you have the exact same level of control, but you now gain the added advantage of having increased resistance to body-checks. Bottom-line, if you're skating backwards the whole time; you should suffer some consequences.
