Franchise Mode - Remove 25 season cap on career

This is a no brainer. It’s so simple. Why is it not in the game?

Let us play more than 25 seasons in Franchise Mode… by the time you draft a franchise player and get a roster to build around… you never see them retire as the game ends before that… they end up in their mid 30’s…

if you draft really well in 2029, and your prospects are 17/18, your prospects will be 35/36 by the time you finish the game…

not sure why the game isn’t endless to be honest…

we never get to experience the full cycle of an NHL team… you draft/build your team… you grow into a contender and eventual champion.. then you are trying to hold open that window for longer.. and then eventually you rebuild after your core gets too old…

WITH EA’S 25 SEASON LIMIT, THEY LIMIT AND RUIN OUR EXPERIENCE… all of us are getting really sick and tired of posting the same suggestions year after year without a single peep from EA… all they send our way are useless updates…

edit: including johum great suggestion..

NBA 2K MyLeague runs for 80 years. And it is fully customizable (expansion, rule changes, player and coach editing, awards, custom draft classes)

Would really like EA to at the very least take some ideas from 2K as inspiration for Franchise in NHL 23 and beyond”

  • @heavydutyrammer How about Trade over ride like NBA 2K has also. Shoot man, if EA just implemented the features IT ALREADY HAS IN THEIR OTHER GAMES, lol.
  • I still think this revolves around EA still viewing Franchise Mode as being Be-A-GM mode.  It isn't about the franchise, it's about putting the player in as a GM and having them contend with a stingy owner who won't spend enough to keep the stadium nice while still demanding that  you upgrade two different things in the arena and keep fan happiness to 99 when it measures it at a date where fan happiness has decayed even if you won the Stanley Cup with fan happiness of 100.

They need to shift to a Team Owner concept behind franchise mode to get them to go beyond 25 years.  Hell, I'd give them all the details on how to design it in depth if they matched my salary and benefits from the job I hate.
