When fielding offers from other teams on a player you want to trade, allow the ability to retain salary. Im starting a Franchise with Chicago and look for a trade for Patrick Kane, but no one can take on his 10.5(?) contract. CPU should also be able to offer back bad contracts along with better prospects for taking on the deal. Allow multi-team trades. Dont think this needs an explanation. Allow users to move draft picks on rosters the way you can move players in different leagues. The Hawks have Vancouvers second next year from the Stillman trade and I have to wait until EA does a roster update until I can start my franchise because Vancouver wont accept the trade that was made last week.Also, where do I go to delete Franchise mode files? Dont see an option to anywhere.

As far as I’ve seen you can’t retain there… only in the actual trade screen.

3 team trades are registered as such according to cap friendly, so I believe it’s thing. Also, what you are talking about is easy, but now imagine you want Wennberg, but needed another team to first retain half his salary in order to be under the cap. There is no way to do that in the game.

Not exactly. I want to be able to acquire a player from another team and have them retain 50% of the salary and pay a draft pick to another team to retain another 50% so I get the player at 25% of their cap hit without having to give up one of my players. Teams have been doing this a lot the last few years when they don’t have the cap space. I know this is not technically a 3 way trade, but it is the best way to implement it into the game.

I have to put my hat in the ring in favour of adding three team trades to NHL.

IrishOwl is correct, that there are no official 3-team trades done at the NHL office. It’s usually registered as two or three separate trades.
That said, teams negotiate them as three teams and come to terms based on what team A is sending team B and/or C, and so on. Since we can’t control more than one team in Franchise Mode, the easiest way to accomplish this would be to allow us to bring a third team in to negotiations.

3 team trades happen all the time, just had one this week. Detroit, Anaheim, Florida.
granted it is technically 2 transactions.
however it is not uncommon for players and picks to get packaged, or for a team to take on a player, retain 50% of his salary and trade him to the team that wants him.
for example, Arizona could take Kane from Chicago. Retain 5.25 and ship him to whoever. Chicago and Arizona would then receive players and picks from the aquiring team.

Completely agree on salary retention and multi-team trades. Franchise Mode would feel way more realistic if teams could retain salary or send bad contracts back in deals. Right now, a lot of big trades are almost impossible.
The draft pick issue is annoying, too. If real-life trades have already happened, users should be able to manually move picks before starting a franchise, rather than waiting for roster updates.
Also surprised there’s still no simple option to delete Franchise save files directly in the mode.

I agree, salary retention and multi-team trades would make Franchise Mode much more realistic. It's frustrating when legitimate trades can't happen because the CPU won't work around cap constraints the way real NHL teams do. Being able to manually adjust draft pick ownership before starting a franchise would also save a lot of waiting for roster updates.
