I love the new True Broadcast camera. And here's why...

Finally I can play in all stadiums with the same True Broadcast camera angle. Before, I didn't like playing at the Columbus Blue Jackets (the camera was way too far away from the action) or the Calgary Flames (the camera was way too close to the action). Finally, I don't have to worry about the TV camera angle anymore, because it's perfect in every stadium now.

I love the True Broadcast camera now. My only concern is that EA removes it from the game. Please leave the True Broadcast camera as it is now. Please !

I think it makes more sense to adjust the True Broadcast camera location for troublesome arenas rather than change the entire angle for every arena.

True Broadcast should be just that - a camera angle designed specifically for representing the 'True' nature of a hockey broadcast with the player giving up some gameplay concessions in order to experience it.

Broadcast camera should be one adjusted for better gameplay, giving up some of the 'trueness' of the broadcast in order to ensure the user's gameplay experience is always the same.

Both of these camera angle options exist and it's weird that they chose to remove some of the trueness from True Broadcast in order to make it more like Broadcast when they should've done the inverse.

Authenticity for the sim market requires concessions in viewing angle for the sake of broadcast TV quality.

EA could have (and should have) modified the similar but not true to TV “Broadcast” angle to make these changes and left True Broadcast alone.

  • @ndrst 99.9% of the people in the original True Broadcast thread, including myself, are extremely adept at playing in that view in any and all arenas. We've played the game exclusively that way for years and have loved it, since its origination around a decade ago. You've been playing on the new True Broadcast cam for a few weeks and are pleading for EA to not take it away. Imagine how you would feel if they remove it and then multiply that by a thousand, that's how we all feel now. This thread can be locked now.

  • In some arenas, it was great. In others, it was difficult.

If EA took a page out of what MLB The Show does, you can have a specific angle for each arena, while also giving you the option to pick and choose the angle you want, or even customize it to your liking.

I never liked the camera angle in Columbus or Florida, but I loved how it was sometimes off-center in buildings like Edmonton or Philadelphia and high in Boston, Montreal, and San Jose. It gave that sense of realism.

  • @ndrst isn't the whole point to be true to each arena, providing a different experience?

There should be an option to "fix" the True Broadcast cam, but each arena's presentation should feel different, otherwise it's just all the same and boring.
  • Good.  I cannot imagine playing with True Broadcast as it was originally - but then I use the standard angle.  The problem isn't that there is a new camera angle, it is that players who enjoyed playing with that thing lost it.  The proper solution was to create another angle, not replace the one already in use.
