Ideas for NHL 24

I'm mainly an EASHL player but I'm just tossing some ideas out there and need any help to get some developers to see it.

EASHL

  • Fully customizable classes
  • No X-factors/abilities for club/playoff games. They should rely on skill and team IQ. Some are overpowered anyway and don't want to lose simply because of close quarters etc. Also the reverse hit is a joke. On the "correct" build literally makes them unhittable
  • More penalties for after whistle shenanigans...like shooting the puck, hitting, slashing (unsportsmanlike). I understand slashing is already there but it takes tooooooo many to get a penalty.
  • Bring back skate radius, stick flex, and stick curve. Also include shoulder, shin, and elbow pads BUT to increase play as a whole give them different attribute increases. You have some out there that don't increase or decrease attributes but eventually they will. Heck, even add some set bonuses like equipping all CCM Tacks and it raises all stats a certain way. They can't be changed and everything will have pros and * but it would be dope! You can unlock a pair of CCM or Bauer skates that can increase speed but decrease endurance, agility, etc. That would give me a reason to grind out bags and so people aren't cheesing you can also lock some behind certain classes. Ex: You unlocked elbow pads that increase your hitting by a certain amount and decrease something else BUT only a defensive defenseman can use them. You cap certain attributes so that builds aren't being used for cheese. EX: Cap hitting really low so a 5'8 160lb sniper isn't just destroying everyone out there. Helmets should increase things like hand eye, passing or whatever. It's time to mix it up! THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED FOR EVERYTHING TO SIMPLY BE COSMETIC. SOME OF US WANT SOMETHING THAT CAN MAKE US FEEL GOOD THAT WE FINALLY UNLOCKED. WE DON'T CARE THAT WE UNLOCKED A DUCKS JERSEY ESPECIALLY WHEN IN 6V6 DROP IN YOU GIVE US LIGHT AND DARK ADIDAS HOODIES.
  • MAKE ALL ATTRIBUTES MATTER!: I play C and try to get the attribute for faceoffs as high as possible (89 or 90) and usually have good timing and good Ping BUT I still lose badly in some games and know most of the combinations for wins. Low discipline = More penalties, higher def awareness = better aimed pokes etc. I shouldn't have to spell it out
  • VISION CONTROL NEEDS TO WORK ASAP! This is simple.... Vision control should be used to look at the puck (or square yourself up for a shot) and If i'm not looking at the puck even somewhat then I shouldn't be able to pick it up. It's basic...

HUT

  • Don't play much of this but everyone says this is the bread and butter (which it is) and makes EA their money. You have to make other game modes enjoyable too because not everyone is going to play HUT. You'll still make your money I guarantee is but I feel this mode should be the LAST to get updated.

Be A Pro

  • Take a page out of NBA 2K's book and make it wayyyyyyyyyy more in-depth. Let me actually choose a practice and do drills! Include the skills competition/all-star game to it as well. I wouldn't even care if you gave my character a cheesy Canadian voice.

Miscellaneous

  • Improve commentary team or have multiple teams
  • Include all common last names (took forever for Boyd to be a play-by-play name)
  • Make home crowds even louder with the cheers or boos. Add some more "Awwwwww" moments for late game post hits etc.
  • X-factor system for WOC need rework

Little and lightweight player should not be have TRUCULENCE.

Big and strong can activate TRUCULENCE, TOTAL ECLIPSE, BIG RIG, Unstoppable force, BACK AT YA and other for power skaters.

stick flex, and stick curve - may affect BEAUTY BACKHAND, SHNIPE, TAPE TO TAPE, Send it

hard flex - THUNDERCLAP, ONE TEE, OFF THE RUSH

part of hockey is hockey equipment - not having the influence of hockey equipment is like playing diablo without the influence of armor and weapons, just cosmetics.

    X-factors

it's good. but all abilities should benefit, should cost differently, should really make players different

there shouldn't be elite edges on a huge player. There shouldn't be a bull on a little boy

there should not be CLOSE QUARTERS - on a player whose accuracy is 79, and speed 95.

it is necessary to make them sacrifice speed for the sake of accurate shots and goals

the old approved scheme is skill tree. to access really cool skills, you need to choose the average, the price of activation points.
you can create a universal player, you can create a highly specialized one.

    And yes!

  • All of the above is great..but I would love to see vulnerable goalies.  Having the ability to rush the net, knock a goalie down and have him compensate to make a save.  Even have the odd goalie injury from a desperate sprawling save or getting crashed into on a rush.

Maybe have goalies be more involved if a scrum breaks out near his crease.

The goalies are invincible in recent games and it does not feel authentic at all.

Make refs vulnerable to pucks and player contact.

Offside review, better goal reviews with replays.

Also BE A GM online would be amazing, even something similar with a massive season built into it with with perks you can use to upgrade the team In limited ways.  Like a 1 or 3 dame consumable by completing quests. Like a +2 speed on a player for 1 game or +3 strength for 3 games for the team or a soecific player. Make certain perks cause a fatigue effect for 1 game after used. Just be creative with it..

Bring back glass break from a killer hit and/or a wicked slapper..

Give us a between periods mini game driving the zamboni to clean the ice (would be fun)

Make Be A Pro available to start in juniors and work your way up to the NHL.  Full story mode.

Bring back the all star and winter classic playable games..

I like that a lot. Never played Be A GM but that would make me want to try it honestly. I want broken sticks/glass back so bad. I like the ideas of goalies being more vulnerable and involved in scrums. Be A Pro would be amazing to start in the juniors or overseas and work your way into the NHL. I wish they would make it so in depth so that and give you challenges to do in game that isn’t always “stop them from scoring” or “score” lol I wanna get some blocks and buy the top lines enough time to get energy with some 3rd or 4th line cycling, or rally the boys with some big clean hits. There’s alot that can go into BAP and the fact that it’s VERY CLOSE to a copy n paste from last year is an absolute disgrace.

I love this. They absolutely messed up factors so I was just on the side of taking them out but if they can have them and not be completely overpowered then I’m all for it. There HAS to be some sort of sacrifice. I would say in the same aspect of the team as a whole. Meaning: we all know that forever speed rules this game but if there’s 5 small tiny players out there then there has to be some sort of negative to it. They should get hurt more and it should drastically make them a liability on the ice.

I’m loving the feedback right now and I’ve been sharing this here and there

  • This is all great but what i want most is to be able to use multiple teams in franchise mode so i can do multiple seasons with friends

  • Many of the problems people have with game play are from lack of experience.

I have played this franchise from the beginning and I play on the highest level.

I play 8 minute periods to try to generate NHL like stats.

There are times I swear the other goalie is the illegitimate offspring of Superwoman and the Flash, but I also have my share of games where I score 5-6 goals.

The frustrating part for me is I can't tell any difference between my "Elite" goalie and my starter. They both generate equally mediocre results

🙌 lol first game after this post. I pulled my Elite goalie after allowing 5 and the backup Elite goalie allowed two more. Scored GWG with .03 remaining

My secret to success is playing defense. Many good scoring chances come from good D.

I play 2-3 forecheck, high pressure D. I play DEFENSE first.

I lock on one player. I find it is a lot easier to make plays that way. You can skate to the slot and call for the pass. When you aren't locked your other players skate in nonsensical ways that make it harder to make plays.

I have attributes set to 10 of 10. Only do this if you think you have a good team
