I'm experiencing this on Xbox Series X on FIFA 23 (huge delay even in solo) . I followed what you have said @DeliveryForKiki : I deleted all my saves (and disconnected from the internet) then I launched an offline game and the game is super smooth! then after one game it seems to be less responsive. Everytime I do this, the games becomes more responsive! Like on NHL.
I had the same delay on FIFA 22 PS5. (which was never fixed).

I've been playing ultimate team since fifa11 and only online and since there are squad battles also offline for the rewards. It all started with the frostbite engine, the massive delays started with FIFA19, but playable. Worse year by year and then crossplay came with FIFA 23 and the game was/is completely unplayable, that's why I stopped playing fifa this year. NHL downloaded the trial phase, played 10 hours. What can I say? I think that was the best online experience of the last few years, no delay, the game was very smooth. I wanted to see how it is without a LAN cable, with 5ghz it was just as great. I played like this for 2 weeks, I couldn't believe that an EA game could run so well. Then suddenly from one day to the next, the gameplay became a truck simulator, extreme lags, the players are not agile, no balance, no acceleration. Everything is like 2 weeks ago, same TV, same console, same connection..I tested new console, new monitor, every step follows what eaaljo writes, nothing helped.. it's either because of live tuning or because of an update of these errors, there is no other explanation
