@niccolo91ea There’s really 1% packet loss in VS compared to EASHL/HUT having 20?? That’s wild because i have always felt that VS mode felt so much more responsive and actually playable compared to EASHL which is trash for me. For a long time I have wondered why Vs mode feels like NHL 19/20 which were the most responsive and competitive eashl games for me

I bought the disc version for the Series X yesterday. Disconnected the internet connection to the xbox and then put the CD in, downloaded the game completely offline. Registered with a different profile and started the game, unfortunately there was no difference to the hard drive version. Game still broken..but I know one thing, I no longer need to experiment with settings on the router, on the TV and other tricks and tips. What did I learn from this test? that I can't blame EA anymore, I'm the last one who would protect EA but in this case, in my opinion, the next-gen is to blame, which doesn't get along with the game. I don't want to think that the console is too weak for NHL and FIFA, because all other games work fine, NHL also worked fantastic for me for at least 100 hours of play. The console can't be too weak, so it must be an update or some setting that is incompatible with the game, I can't think of anything else..I also apologize to eaaljo if I was too emotional at times. Glad I did this testI bought the disc version for NHL22 (Series X/S) cheap in the summer. It did nothing. Too many players play the game normally for it to be outright incompatible. These are not exactly technological marvels of games requiring insane graphics and computing power. I had my Series X for NHL21 from May-September '21. Worked perfectly. I've had 3 Xbox X/S, all with the same NHL22/23 issues. Funny part? NHL21 works absolutely fine, and I just tested it as I'm typing this.
There has to be a specific explanation. I refuse to believe the new Frostbite engine is simply a coincidence with my issues manifesting. Did you wipe the other data before re-installing? I'm convinced between the shortcut start-ups to the game loading or the Cloud data that something sticks to the short term memory of these systems. I don't know why it clears up sometimes at 4am for offline and online; it's an inconsistency in a mess of them.
- Dadaruklija3 years agoRising Scout@DeliveryForKiki I deleted everything that has to do with NHL, then I disconnected the internet connection from the console..registered another account and pushed the cd in, started the game offline without a new patch. Then I tried once without an account, then once with my account online and offline.. the unplayable game everywhere.
- Dadaruklija3 years agoRising Scout@DeliveryForKiki everyone who has this horrible gameplay i advise to write to MS, i did it via console for feedback. The more reports, the greater the chances of changing something. I've been concentrating on the console or MS since my test.

@DeliveryForKiki this will sound ridiculous but try getting your controller to connect as the green one (player 3). This makes the skating approximately 500000x times more fluid and my player actually picks ups pucks when I do this. This obviously sounds ridiculous but give it a shot lol. I use an elite series 1 controller so maybe it will be different for you but i have had by far the best 2 nights playing with this. Not sure how you can get it connect like this but I have a keyboard that counts as player 1+2 and then I can connect as player 3. im in the conspiracy lunatic phase of things but I am 100% sure this makes a huge difference for me to the point where the game goes from unplayable to me being able to LT and puck protect at a high level. It seems to smooth things out and almost function as a lower sensitivity, as crazy as that sounds. Vibration also randomly was there last time I did this

I've been concentrating on the console or MS since my test. And Microsoft will say it's an EA issue. Round and round we go. And do you know what? They're in all certainty correct. If it was simply a console issue, I would not have every other game I own work absolutely fine. Now, if it's something with how the next-gen NHL series (22, 23) works with the Xbox hardware/software, that's plausible. But then we're right back to it being an EA issue.
@9up3dprurovjI usually try to make myself Red, but I'll test it. Still wouldn't make total sense with all my issues, or the inconsistencies like why it resolves around 4am. I don't blame you for being in the lunatic phase because I'm there also. I've tried everything short of spinning in a circle 100 times fast while reciting the Gettysburg address each time before I play.
That I get my horrific delay in offline modes, Versus modes, and EASHL modes definitely doesn't make total sense with it being JUST the servers. I've spent an obscene amount of time and money on figuring this out. But EA can't reproduce it -- without even positing what "it" is -- so that's that.

And if you think it's account dependent, then play without registering. .there are such simple ways to find out what the issue is.. if you only have online issues, you can count yourself lucky, but here in this thread it's about much, much worse, let's not deviate from the topic by asking you only online issues again and again appeals. We, who cannot play, also have these issues offline

If the menu starts to run strangely, I turn it off immediately and gamble on something else if necessary. For me, it actually only runs smoothly in the middle of the night and very early in the morning. It's funny when it's funny again, even offline gameplay is affected. The engine is just screwed up."
I'm from the eastern US. This couldn't describe my issue better, and this guy is on FIFA in Germany. I'll say again: zero issues before the new Frostbite engine in NHL22. FIFA has been on Frostbite since 17. There's even an old video linked in that forum that talks about signing in offline and not saving data. I came to that conclusion myself that the game runs better, at least until signing in.
It's a hilarious farce that we are being gaslit into this being an issue for only a minor part of the community......across multiple titles! While I don't doubt it's a minority, even 5% of the population is MASSIVE. This does not appear to be limited to NHL nor to North America.
- Dadaruklija3 years agoRising Scout@DeliveryForKiki I would like to give up testing and playing but I think to myself why did I pay for both titles that I no longer play. This is a huge rudeness on the part of EA who don't care for the 5 or 10% of players I believe many more are affected. I wrote to MS 3 days ago and haven't gotten an answer yet. I only play sports games because I don't have the time or nerves for adventure games, I also don't play ego shoter because I don't have any aggression problems. EA has a monopoly on sports games, but that doesn't work for me and many, many others. Now I'm standing there with 2 consoles (800 €) but can't play a game, thanks EA thanks MS.
- 3 years ago@Dadaruklija Yeah my offline is horrible too. Definitely something wrong. That should never happen. Button delay in offline single player mode? Yikes. Must be a coding issue. The lag in the menus also shows an issue. It's so slow.

It's not like we enjoy seeing these threads. The problem is that we can't find a problem. Without that, we can't find a fix since there is no problem to actually fix. Again, I'm not saying this 100% is not on our end, but until we can reproduce this, we won't be able to address it.

I believe that you make an effort to improve the gaming experience, I also don't believe that EA is solely to blame. I know I'm repeating myself but the game worked perfectly, offline and online for the first 10-12 days, after that there were weird player movements, but it was still acceptable and playable because the server or connection is/was still good. But since the last patch, I'm not exaggerating, like my players are being dragged from behind, like they have to skate on mud, like they are being slowed down by something (fat-man lag)..if you saw my gameplay you would ask me why am I still trying to find a solution, you would give up playing. For me, the last patch was the end of the gaming experience. I hope the next patch comes soon - 3 years ago
There are several problems here and people are confusing them for the one. The issue when playing online in a dedicated server mode can be mix and match of these two things, the games lag compensation mechanic and the player's ISP/route to server.
Last week I played "CoeurPython36" on Xbox, a player from Montreal. In dedicated server mode, I had a significant delay even though latency shows 22ms, he beats me 3-2, and I had a hard time keeping the game close. We played a friendly HUT game immediately after, which uses p2p connection. Latency was around 40ms, there was a time when I felt the lag due to the stuttering, yet I was winning 5-1 halfway through the second when he quit.
I didn't get magically better nor he got magically worse when switching from playing on a dedicated server in his town to a p2p connection.
The game smoothing/lag compensation mechanics adds delay for the sake of the game looking smooth. That is why when you play p2p, you notice the lag occasionally.
Go to wireshark discord and ask the people there for help or watch some tutorial videos. I captured all the network data from a game and had a few guys look into it, one being a developer of the software. According to them, I am getting almost 24 percent packet resends during that one game, that means the information didn't make it to the server, the packets were lost and had to be resent. This is what is causing the delay.
https://help.ea.com/nz/help/connection-quality/explaining-packet-loss-in-your-game/
EA states
Packet loss is the measurement of the number, or percentage, of packets that fail to successfully make the round trip to the FIFA Game Data Centers and back.
A fast, reliable, and consistent delivery of the packets of game data is required for an online match to be played optimally. If one or more of the packets of game data fail to make the full trip, those packets need to be re-sent, which adds additional time before the player-requested actions in that packet happen in the game. This can result in subsequent packets being delayed as well, until everything catches up to the impact that was caused by the initial packet loss.
They are not counting the packet loss as packet loss because it is getting resent. If anyone works in the networking field they could explain it better. Also, your ISP might be causing some traffic management issues and it might not just be on EAs lag compensation mechanics. Many factors at play here but no one explains this to anyone.
I literally had to do the research buy a switch ask the wireshark people how to set it up properly then ask them to explain to me what all the data meant in laymen's terms.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea So even with traceroute tools like WinMTR, the data is false? That's interesting...

Still chuckling at this logic:
"We will provide an update when we have one. But also we can't replicate this issue, so there will be no updates. Thank you for your time."
I just don’t get how it doesn’t seem to affect everyone. I’m sure there are plenty of players who just don’t have enough experience on NHL games to even notice it, but I also know a lot of long time players who don’t have any problems.
For me the same pattern repeats almost every time. First one or two Rivals or Champs are pretty good but then every game mode becomes unplayable. This could also happen in the middle of the game. Usually I win those first games. Feels like some kind limiter goes on and my opponent has been given some kind of advantage against me.
It feels like something resets when x amount of time has passed, and you can play two good games again. Always the same no matter which time I'm playing.
Yup, same exact thing for me. I don’t even think i have ever really gotten through a single game where it is consistent and responsive the whole way through. But the first few minutes of the first game are always amazing. It’s driving me insane
- 3 years ago
Now it works even with number one user, delete the game and save data with your first user, create a new user, download trial version via ea play (with a new user), try it! works for me.
@hortsiii how long has it worked? Do you think it’s just placebo?
- 3 years ago@9up3dprurovj Work all day yesterday and today...
- Dadaruklija3 years agoRising ScoutI tried it, no change..unplayable on the new account in the trial phase
- 3 years ago@Dadaruklija Many more players are affected, but they don't know to or care to try to find the help needed, so they just don't bother playing anymore.
