@EA_AljoI can't understand this response, truthfully. I don't care if YOU can't reproduce them because it is MY issue (along with some others). If you don't have this issue, why would you be able to magically reproduce it? That doesn't explain HOW this happens in a free skate mode. Not even a theory. I gave incontrovertible evidence of my issue, along with countless specificities and context, surely that's enough to theorize. I'm tired of this whisper down the non-existent lane stuff.

This has been investigated by the team here. I'm not involved in that other than relaying feedback on this issue. So far, it hasn't been reproduced. Without that, we can't work on a resolution.

Hey guys, well I changed and got high speed Fibre and I have the exact same lag. This is unbelievable.
My upload and download speeds are much higher. My ping latency dropped in half to 25ms and still the lag is just brutal. What a joke. I have no clue what else to do. I think I'm done on NHL this is affecting my mental health now

My skepticism meter is off the chart when no one even cares to contact me to provide specific information. The first step isn't a resolution; it's a diagnosis.
You tacitly admitted the EA team is doing nothing because they can't "reproduce" it. And if they can't "reproduce" it, they will never do anything. So, here I am spinning my wheels. Why am I sending clips then? You just admitted all this is futile.

@DeliveryForKiki By far the worst part about it for me is the games feeling progressively laggier with each successive game each night. Something just seems to reset the next day every time but I have no idea why. Sometimes I think it’s just an elite controller issue or a problem with the Xbox itself.

@EA_Aljo is it only investigated in house or is there a outsourced testing company involced? Connection based problems are kinda hard to reproduce in house…Testing is done in house.
I'm not saying we're done with this. I have passed on all the details you posted for this. While it couldn't be reproduced, we are monitoring the issue and keeping an eye out for new details.

I finally figured it out!!!! It's the resolution on the Xbox!!!!!! You have to play on 720p!!!! For some reason the Xbox can't handle the higher resolutions! I finally have no lag!!!!!!! You have no idea what a relief it is LOL
Thanks for suggesting this. It would be good to hear if others can try this out and report back.

Same button delay here. I've tried everything mentioned plus more. The first week of launch was absolutely perfect. The game was so fun playing like how it should. Ever since the first patch /update it went to *. Now it's been * ever since if I play from 9am to about 8pm. Late night the delay goes away. It's clearly a server issue. The first week of launch was the early access. So less people were online. Servers can't handle the amount of players during the day I guess. Why is there no option for me to switch servers? The one I'm on is clearly garbage for me.
I just logged onto nhl 22 and have no button delay now. Lol. Last year nhl22 was unplayable all year with button delay. Now it's fine? Clearly a server issue.
Oh just tried that 720p didn't work either.
But it's my connection right? Every other game I play is perfect. I ping 13 ms and it plays like 150 to 200 ping easily.
Ea are you ever going to fix your servers? Or just keep blaming us for our hardware / isp / router?
I wanted to try gwc this year but that's a joke playing with this delay lol.
Can't believe it's 2023 and we are having this issue.
- 3 years ago@WiZaKoR Yeah I have still have lag as well. Must've just got lucky on a few games. It's definitely not gone. I think it's time to quit this insanity for good. The AWS servers obviously can't handle it. It's like EA can only allow a certain amount of people to have no lag. It's just a total crap shoot
- 3 years ago@WiZaKoR The whole issue is a complete mess. I don't doubt that the servers play a role in this, but even this is confusing. For example, some people will blame proximity to the servers, but if you look on FIFA threads on this forum and on reddit, you'll find people with 6-8ms ping dealing with horrific delay.
To use more anecdotes, I live in midwest US. I can count on one hand how many games with smooth gameplay I've had in the past few years on FIFA. It doesn't even matter what time of day or night it is. I've played at 3-4 AM, and while the gameplay is a little better, I am no match for people that are just zooming around and making me look like an idiot while my players are still too sluggish. Meanwhile, I have friend who lives a couple of miles from me, in the same city. While he still has delay, it is noticeably better than what I deal with. Same ISP. I also watch a twitch FIFA 'pro' who also lives in a suburb of the same city. This player never experiences delay. All 3 of us have the same ISP, we ping the same to EA servers, and yet we all have 3 separate gameplay experiences.
Some have said this could be an issue of ISP congestion, but this doesn't make sense to me. My ISP says the node is fine. traceroute shows all my packets reach the EA server with no ping anomalies. My connection score using EA's connection tool is 98, with negligible jitter and packet loss. And yet here I am, tearing my own hair out trying to get to the bottom of an issue that EA has refused to test properly for years. It's always the same refrain - "not enough players are complaining about it for us to look into it", which is a statement I doubt. Countless threads are posted on this forum and others about these issues. - 3 years ago@MrTryfe It's just so frustrating and unplayable.. I got a taste of perfect connection the first week of launch and my ping went down to 3 for that week.. Something changed after the first patch and now I'm back to 12 - 13 ms. But with massive delay. It's like I got switched to a different server. I wish there was an option to select the server you want to play on.

@MrTryfeI want to add to this - take a look at these threads in the FIFA forum:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Input-lag-feedback-request/td-p/11103874/page/112
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Input-lag-feedback-request/m-p/11103874#M22635
This is a 100+ page thread, that was already a rollover of a 150+ page thread. This was EA's attempt to "gather info" regarding the issue. Many people initially posted their issues, and gave the information that was required. Of course, due to no response for months on end, many people started discussing the issues further, at which point the issue was closed entirely, with the problem marked as "solved", when no such thing occurred. The reason for closing this thread? Not enough info given. If you go thru both threads from the start, you can see countless amounts of people given the information that was requested from them.
I have a thread in the FIFA forum currently discussing how routing for Pro Clubs changed for me and my friends since the start of FIFA 22. Prior to that, we used to play around 18-40ms on Pro Clubs. Rarely we had games over 40ms. Since FIFA 22 started, half of our games are 60-80ms. The routing has clearly changed for the worse. I haven't received an acknowledgement in regards to the issue, and the thread has been up for a week. But beyond that, it isn't simply about the ping. You could have 40ms games that felt better than a 20ms game. But generally, the input lag always makes everything a hassle.
And these are just two threads. I've found at least 4 other large threads discussing this issue, all leading to EA being entirely mum on the topic, and evading the subject whenever possible. This doesn't seem like a company interested in helping those dealing with the worst kind of issues at all. - couture2fat2fly3 years agoSeasoned Veteran
The main topic and issue of this thread should remain the input lag, which is different than having a high ping. Many of us have great pings such as my own 14 ms, yet the game feels like it's at least 80+ ms.
I've had several 40ms games that felt a lot smoother than my regular 14ms.
Either the ping indicator is completely messed up or it's the game engine that's slow (and not the connection).

@MrTryfe this was written by somebody in one of the Fifa threads you shared:
”What I’m really struggling to understand is how it comes and goes and always seems like the first 1-1.5 games after a long break feels fine, then it rapidly deteriorates again. Definitely seems like a bug in the game - seems to me like something to do with caching/buffer management if I had to guess since I have no idea how else to explain that behaviour of how it gets worse as I play”
literally this describes EXACTLY what happens as I play. First game starts out amazingly responsive. Towards the middle of the first game it starts to become less responsive and by the end of the second game it starts to be very noticeable and nearly unplayable.
for anyone having these issues, I have found that restarting the Xbox through the power options tab in the Xbox menus seems to get rid of the lag every time. This is the only consistent way to get rid of it that I have had, not even hard resetting has been reliable for me
- 3 years ago@9up3dprurovj I have tried this, but it hasn't done anything for me. Every mode, offline or online, has input lag/delay. Some people have said that the gameplay is decent at an odd hour of the night - I can't even get that much and I have played at every hour of the day at some point this year.
As an aside - I started playing FIFA on PC last week. New account and everything. The first couple of days were a breeze. Everything was responsive and fine. After those two days, I am back to the same old sluggish gameplay. I almost threw my controller at the monitor at one point but thankfully restrained myself. Those two days were the most fun I had with the game in some years. It's also why I am heavily skeptical of the idea that this is a problem on the ISP's end. Why are some of these games fine? Lag compensation doesn't describe the issue either, because how can you go 2 days, with numerous games played, and not experience input delay? Meanwhile, if I logon to FIFA on PC or Xbox now, every game will be a slog. I know not everyone I am playing has a bad connection that needs to be compensated for. - 3 years ago
Ok yeah I’m starting to notice that it resolves later in the night at like 3 AM lol. It’s horrible before that. There are definitely multiple issues being discussed here. Horrible game
- 3 years ago@MrTryfe new account means you are playing lower tier players. I made a new account in NHL HUT and started from scratch and thought the same thing, but if you think about it they match you up with lower division players, who prob have similar delay issues and it is one reason why they in there to begin with. You start to win more and play better players, and a factor why they are better is because they don't have the same delay issues as you. So because you win and play well, you play yourself out of the "goldilocks" zone and now you have to struggle vs people with connection advantage.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea Yes, I understand now the differences regarding packets much better now. I spent a whole day yesterday reading on how packets for different use cases aren't the same. Some games in particular like FIFA and NHL seem to use larger packets, which is why the ping is higher in-game as opposed to on WinMTR. Of course as you've said, something is amiss when all ICMP packets reach the destination, but these EA packets are dropping in Wireshark, but packet loss is not shown as occurring in-game using the game's connection monitoring tools.

@WiZaKoR its funny you say this. When the game was initially released I was getting good ping for 2 weeks, and then I went from pretty decent ping to fair connection. But it was my internet connections fault. Now since the latest update, I had a week of good connection again.. and then boom after playing for 1 week starting in January again I’m getting nothing but fair connection for any online game modes. But once again it’s my server that is the issue, I’ve contacted my internet provider and they’ve asked for a traceroute to the nhl servers. Of course ea won’t reveal that information because they know that it’s an issue on there end. It’s almost like the server I initially start connecting to gets shut down, or I pick up another server which is horrible for where I live. It’s pathetic.

This is not why we don't give out that information. Again, if this was server related, we'd be getting a very high amount of reports about it. Like we are with the current issue with the EU server. That is a perfect example of when an issue appears to be on our end or with an ISP in the region. When we have a far smaller amount of reports, it points to an issue with a home network or ISP.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo Literally just went on to test a game in rivals.. First 3mins of the game was flying then the delay just came out of no where.. I just quit. I think I have 200 losses to quits. Lol. Waste of time. Only time it has no delay is at late night or early morning for me. And the game is super fast and fun. But the other 80 percent of the time it's slow and delayed and McDavid feels like a slug.
Yup, every game. First few minutes are great and then all of a sudden youre in mud and delayed
