@DeliveryForKikiin the german forum there are 535 posts since FIFA23 release about the unplayable game. Please read the last page, the post by weed888. You can translate it with google translator

"But I notice that now when I start FIFA. If the menu starts to run strangely, I turn it off immediately and gamble on something else if necessary. For me, it actually only runs smoothly in the middle of the night and very early in the morning. It's funny when it's funny again, even offline gameplay is affected. The engine is just screwed up."
I'm from the eastern US. This couldn't describe my issue better, and this guy is on FIFA in Germany. I'll say again: zero issues before the new Frostbite engine in NHL22. FIFA has been on Frostbite since 17. There's even an old video linked in that forum that talks about signing in offline and not saving data. I came to that conclusion myself that the game runs better, at least until signing in.
It's a hilarious farce that we are being gaslit into this being an issue for only a minor part of the community......across multiple titles! While I don't doubt it's a minority, even 5% of the population is MASSIVE. This does not appear to be limited to NHL nor to North America.

@DeliveryForKiki I would like to give up testing and playing but I think to myself why did I pay for both titles that I no longer play. This is a huge rudeness on the part of EA who don't care for the 5 or 10% of players I believe many more are affected. I wrote to MS 3 days ago and haven't gotten an answer yet. I only play sports games because I don't have the time or nerves for adventure games, I also don't play ego shoter because I don't have any aggression problems. EA has a monopoly on sports games, but that doesn't work for me and many, many others. Now I'm standing there with 2 consoles (800 €) but can't play a game, thanks EA thanks MS.Of course we care. It's not like we enjoy seeing these threads. The problem is that we can't find a problem. Without that, we can't find a fix since there is no problem to actually fix. Again, I'm not saying this 100% is not on our end, but until we can reproduce this, we won't be able to address it.

I believe that you make an effort to improve the gaming experience, I also don't believe that EA is solely to blame. I know I'm repeating myself but the game worked perfectly, offline and online for the first 10-12 days, after that there were weird player movements, but it was still acceptable and playable because the server or connection is/was still good. But since the last patch, I'm not exaggerating, like my players are being dragged from behind, like they have to skate on mud, like they are being slowed down by something (fat-man lag)..if you saw my gameplay you would ask me why am I still trying to find a solution, you would give up playing. For me, the last patch was the end of the gaming experience. I hope the next patch comes soon - 3 years ago
There are several problems here and people are confusing them for the one. The issue when playing online in a dedicated server mode can be mix and match of these two things, the games lag compensation mechanic and the player's ISP/route to server.
Last week I played "CoeurPython36" on Xbox, a player from Montreal. In dedicated server mode, I had a significant delay even though latency shows 22ms, he beats me 3-2, and I had a hard time keeping the game close. We played a friendly HUT game immediately after, which uses p2p connection. Latency was around 40ms, there was a time when I felt the lag due to the stuttering, yet I was winning 5-1 halfway through the second when he quit.
I didn't get magically better nor he got magically worse when switching from playing on a dedicated server in his town to a p2p connection.
The game smoothing/lag compensation mechanics adds delay for the sake of the game looking smooth. That is why when you play p2p, you notice the lag occasionally.
Go to wireshark discord and ask the people there for help or watch some tutorial videos. I captured all the network data from a game and had a few guys look into it, one being a developer of the software. According to them, I am getting almost 24 percent packet resends during that one game, that means the information didn't make it to the server, the packets were lost and had to be resent. This is what is causing the delay.
https://help.ea.com/nz/help/connection-quality/explaining-packet-loss-in-your-game/
EA states
Packet loss is the measurement of the number, or percentage, of packets that fail to successfully make the round trip to the FIFA Game Data Centers and back.
A fast, reliable, and consistent delivery of the packets of game data is required for an online match to be played optimally. If one or more of the packets of game data fail to make the full trip, those packets need to be re-sent, which adds additional time before the player-requested actions in that packet happen in the game. This can result in subsequent packets being delayed as well, until everything catches up to the impact that was caused by the initial packet loss.
They are not counting the packet loss as packet loss because it is getting resent. If anyone works in the networking field they could explain it better. Also, your ISP might be causing some traffic management issues and it might not just be on EAs lag compensation mechanics. Many factors at play here but no one explains this to anyone.
I literally had to do the research buy a switch ask the wireshark people how to set it up properly then ask them to explain to me what all the data meant in laymen's terms.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea So even with traceroute tools like WinMTR, the data is false? That's interesting...
- 3 years ago@Dadaruklija Many more players are affected, but they don't know to or care to try to find the help needed, so they just don't bother playing anymore.
- 3 years ago@MrTryfe When you use a MTR and UOtrace it does show you accurate latency but it is not using the same packets as the game data, prob using TCP like speedtests use, it is definitely not using GVSP over UDP. So those types of packets aren't getting dropped and resent, so you see no packet loss.
