Aljo, with all of the similar reports over the last few years complaining about fatman lag, it is quite clear you guys can't fix the problem so you're simply stalling.
That being said I've purchased this game every year since at least 2010 and the current state of online gameplay is incredibly terrible. I won't be buying next year until price drops to 20$ where it belongs.
Not only the input lag is a total turn-off, but the drop in mode is completely broken. I've been able to start a game without issue once every 4 attempts on average all year. Different bugs, loading screen stalls, unexpected errors, lost connection when game starts etc. If you sit down and try to play drop in games you can expect 40 min per game plus 40 mins in-between of just back to back rebooting of the game, quitting and re-inviting friends who got kicked.
Game is absolutely beyond repair and you guys need to realize this before 2k makes a game. Scrap Frostbite, since it causes input lag, and start over fresh.
There were complaints of input lag before Frostbite. This has been a complaint across many games over many years. Regardless, I would love to find out why some have input lag while so many others do not. It's understandable that those with higher pings are going to experience it though.

Last night cleared the game data, loaded the game offline. Then joined EASHL lobby for 6s. First game my goalie is moving well and it’s responsive. Getting puck covers and save animations on everything. Towards the end of the game the mud starts to get worse and by the second game it is completely unplayable. Goalie reacts to nothing and basically every shot I’m not in perfect position for goes in the net. It’s the same pattern every single night.
whatever the issue is, I think I’ve been having it for a long time but it seems to have been exacerbated horribly by the new engine. It’s 100% NOT connection related
- couture2fat2fly2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@EA_Aljo if this was ping related this thread would be 35 pages shorter.

It’s just clearly built into the game at this point. Some sort of nerf to certain players. It’s not lag, and hard to believe there’s a game breaking bug that only affects certain people
- couture2fat2fly2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@dlf0c8lj0f5w Most likely it affects most of the people, but not everyone has hours to spend on forums ans not everyone even notices because that's how the game usually feels like.

This couldn't be further from the truth. We don't program the game to lag or have a higher ping for certain people. That would be an incredible waste of time and resources. It just makes no sense whatsoever.

Wouldn’t be a waste of resources if it was determined that it increased player retention

What you're claiming simply does not exist.
@EA_Aljo there is at least three people I know who play Fifa and have the same lag @DeliveryForKiki mentioned in all game modes and I've shared clips about it and asked for help many times and there is no response from your end
It's an offline problemand if you can't recreate it to fix it just take the account credentials and try by your self since all of these complains aren't enough
- 2 years ago@El_Ostora_0 It's the definition of being given the runaround. They ask for evidence, and I provide ample evidence, including clips. They say they can't replicate it (whatever that means), which is acknowledging there is a visible issue, but they don't give the slightest hint of what could be wrong. Then they ask for more clips when someone else complains. Round and round.
The lack of respect for the consumer's time, experience, and intelligence is galling. Do developers exist in this company? You'd think in 15 months that there'd be at least some interaction or explanation with someone with more expertise than a "Community Manager." - EA_Aljo2 years ago

I have reported everything to the team. It has been investigated, but this is also an incredibly difficult issue to troubleshoot. We would probably need to come to your home to experience what you are. There are a very high amount of variables to account for that we can't really do with our own testing. That and the relatively low number of reports of your exact issue just make it even harder to diagnose. We want you all to play without lag, but we also have no control over your region, what TV, router and modem you use, the other devices connected to your network, how your signal is routed, what router settings you're using, the amount of traffic in your neighborhood, the cables you use, etc.
I ask for clips because there's a big difference between what you are experiencing and input lag, speed up lag or a drop in frame rate. Occasionally, people lump those together and don't define what kind of lag they have so video helps determine what lag they have. All of this is done to help diagnose the issue. Out of all the issues that are reported to us, connection problems can be the most complicated to troubleshoot due to the wildly varying differences in what makes up someone's connection. This isn't a simple issue of some people having the same problem and being able to find something on our end that is causing that. As I've said before, when we have a high number of people reporting problems with connections, we can find out why that's happening, but it's incredibly more challenging when a smaller portion of the overall playerbase is experiencing something we can't reproduce. Especially with the almost limitless combination of variables that are out of our control. We are constantly monitoring for issues and taking action as they come up.
- 2 years ago@EA_Aljo Do you have devs and testers in some of the locations people are reporting these issues from? Perhaps that could go a long way in diagnosing/resolving. Even if done on a temporary basis. Just a thought.
- 2 years ago@Br4ymatter Saskatchewan super rough again tonight by the way.
Horrendous still today. Won maybe 2 or 3 games in way too many tries. Burst, champs, NWC
guesing there’s logic in doing challenges to upgrade cards so people don’t outright quit games
but why even chase them when dealing with the below all the time:
high ovrs feel sluggish
opponents ai all over you
passes go astray
cant switch players
opponent doubles up on toa and shots
puck bounces right back to them
your team magically takes interference when not even controlling
tend to score on your own net more
guessing it’s just more subtle for those closer to servers and maybe more pronounced for us further away when at peak times.
super frustrating.
may be time to quit again.
EA,maybe take 24 year off and fix all this from ground up so it’s fair.
Free to play this year because all this, and will be for the foreseeable future; if I even buy 24.This is getting old EA. Feels like some locations are being used to make sure larger player bases stay happy. May not be the case, but sure feels like being targeted with unfair gameplay.
Edit: Removed mention of momentum. This is not in any of our sports games and is misinformation. -CM - EA_Aljo2 years ago

We monitor all the servers for issues, but due to the extremely high numbers of variables involved with connections, we can't just do a test in a particular region to detect any local issues. Normally, when a region has a slow ping, it's due to being a more remote location that is farther away from a datacenter.
- 2 years ago@EA_Aljo My ping hasn’t changed from the normal supposed numbers I see in the game.
It’s gotta be something that changed on the backend that has all of a sudden made it unplayable the past few days. Or it’s a load issue. I’m not saying to investigate local issues but instead see how backend changes affect users in certain locations. Certainly you can hire a tester to report how a change or kid issue could affect.
If EA doesn’t want to get to the bottom of it, then I guess I just need to quit this game, as I suspect many others will do out of frustration. Really sad, but I guess no obligation since it’s a “small number of complaints”. Yet this thread is huge past few years.
As others have noted, those who stream play an entirely different game than those of us in certain locations. Yet, it must be on our end.
We can’t just move, but EA can and should spend time and resources to fix so it’s at least playable and more importantly “fair”across the board. - EA_Aljo2 years ago

I'll pass on the feedback. I'm not aware of any backend changes that would cause your connection to change. We'll keep monitoring for issues as well.
- 2 years ago@EA_Aljo
Appreciate it.
Really don’t want to have to gripe so much, but think this may affect way more people than you think. Again for some it may be more subtle.
And I really don’t mind losing, if it’s fair or even if it’s not fair sometimes.
But it shouldn’t be consistently unfair for long stretches or days like it can be often. - 2 years ago
Just an FYI
The game actually played “very” even and fairly online this afternoon from say 1pm to about 5pm Saskatchewan time.
Perhaps even more so than usual, and even for the games I lost. Exactly how I’d expect it to play.
But since then, last few have returned to the negative things I experienced and noted before whereby it’s ridiculously unfair.Thought I’d mention the timeline just in case checking things out.

It's possible traffic is heavier on your network in the late afternoon/early evening. We'll keep an eye out for any issues though.

@EA_Aljo Yeah keep going deep into hallucinations about connection and servers and gaslighting that it's an offline engine coding problem that you guys having since 17
just to be more clear on this bug, I've opened the game on the thirds setup, new ps5 new screen totally different neighborhood with a 500MB connection completely different
PlayStation and EA accounts and the game still have the same issue in offline game play so yeah it's definitely not something on our end.
that's it for me on this game and I think more will follow due to your negligence of the problem.
good luck.

There's no gaslighting here. We simply have not been able to reproduce this. We would love to have to be able to find out why some of you are having this issue, but when we can't make it happen, we can't track down what is causing it. It's also further impacted by the relative low number of reports along with the high number of variables that make up everyone's connection. We will continue to monitor our servers and watch for more reports.

So I get that we’re talking servers vs p2p but why is it that I only experience this inability to keep up in rivals/champs more often than not as compared to hut friendly?
Doesn’t that clearly indicate that it’s something with the game, code or servers if I never experience that in hut friendly? Can’t be my connection then, right?
Again, when playing rivals/champs, 4 of 5 games my opponents ai will be all over me, I can’t make any plays, players skating in mud, outshot/out toa’d terribly, random goals on myself, interference penalties on players I’m not controlling, etc. Just a nasty experience that makes me wanna quit immediately. Makes chasing cards pointless. Good thing I’m free to play.
Yet, I can play that same player after in a hut friendly and it plays smooth as butter like it should, and it’s fair for both sides.
Can we go back to p2p maybe? Think you’d make a lotta people happier.
By the way when was the change made to server based for hut? Feel like it’s only in last 5 years? Probably about the time people started complaining is my guess. - 2 years ago
I have played this game serie from the very beginning and now EA have made something that this is the last EA title to my house. Horrible horrible.
I understand that all these gaming setups and connection stuff variates and has effect to gameplay too, but why there is no this kind of problems in other games.
EA it isn't in the game anymore.

Anyone who is experiencing input lag, unresponsive, sluggish gameplay. Try to tun off crossplay.
I have been playing around with turning it, on and off his weeekend. And there is definitely a significant difference.

You're welcome to provide videos showing the differences in your opponent's AI versus yours. Keep in mind that this also can come down to which strategies are being used and how the humans at the controls are playing. I'd be glad to review videos for any inconsistencies though.
I don't see us going back to P2P due to the ability to force a game to disconnect. That's not something we have any control over. Other than using dedicated servers. Which, makes this a lot harder to do.
