So I get that we’re talking servers vs p2p but why is it that I only experience this inability to keep up in rivals/champs more often than not as compared to hut friendly?
Doesn’t that clearly indicate that it’s something with the game, code or servers if I never experience that in hut friendly? Can’t be my connection then, right?
Again, when playing rivals/champs, 4 of 5 games my opponents ai will be all over me, I can’t make any plays, players skating in mud, outshot/out toa’d terribly, random goals on myself, interference penalties on players I’m not controlling, etc. Just a nasty experience that makes me wanna quit immediately. Makes chasing cards pointless. Good thing I’m free to play.
Yet, I can play that same player after in a hut friendly and it plays smooth as butter like it should, and it’s fair for both sides.
Can we go back to p2p maybe? Think you’d make a lotta people happier.
By the way when was the change made to server based for hut? Feel like it’s only in last 5 years? Probably about the time people started complaining is my guess.
You're welcome to provide videos showing the differences in your opponent's AI versus yours. Keep in mind that this also can come down to which strategies are being used and how the humans at the controls are playing. I'd be glad to review videos for any inconsistencies though.
I don't see us going back to P2P due to the ability to force a game to disconnect. That's not something we have any control over. Other than using dedicated servers. Which, makes this a lot harder to do.

I can literally feel the game resisting my player from skating to a loose puck occasionally lol. It isn’t even subtle
- MrTryfe2 years agoNew Rookie@EA_Aljo If EA is really serious about this issue, please have your engineers look into this issue of out of order packets, which I suspect could be a reason for these issues. Here is a reddit post about the Fortnite devs looking into an issue of packets being out of order after having done some investigation:
https://www.reddit.com/r/networking/comments/awr6t1/out_of_order_packets/
As you can see, the in-game connection indicators and the connection tool don't display this as packet loss, since the packets aren't technically being dropped and are just being retransmitted. You can see why this would be a problem in real time, as game states between 2 players will not match up. This is a legitimate issue, and if the devs aren't willing to look into this, I don't believe anything except lip service is being paid here in regards to fixing the issue. - 2 years ago
@DeliveryForKiki it’s actually freaky how
similar it is to what people refer to as “heavy car bug” in the Rocket League community. If you Google it and read through some online threads about it you would probably be shocked to see the parallels. I quit NHL only to realize the exact same janky movements and weird desync feeling is in rocket league too and is a huge problem for many players. The difference is that there are a lot more people like you, who are very high ranks, discussing it and troubleshooting it to no avail

@6oct1on0jvxwYou're not wrong. I don't play on PC or Rocket League, but some things sound very similar. Whether it's the few seconds normal before something suddenly looks off with the frames (like a mini stutter) and the delay returns. Or obviously the delayed inputs. Or not even delayed -- simply failed inputs.
The most apparent issue is that it affects offline modes too. There's nothing you can say about the internet (let alone a stable 1GB connection) that clears that up. I don't have issues in other high paced games. And when online clears up or offline, the other invariably does too. It's always both at the same time. I don't play much these days, and it's not consistent with it, but some of the time it clears up at 3-4am like clockwork. My skater is flying in free skate. No sudden stops when turning, my right stick moves faster, animations clean up.
From the very first post, this is about as simple a representation as it gets:
It's been 18 months, EA doesn't care. You'll never hear a peep of a response from this "team" that supposedly is receiving this information. I have dozens of videos. Like talking to a wall. - 2 years ago
Yeah, I have the exact same movement in free skate. I’m just not so sure why you’re convinced this is a bug and not intended. The you know what “kicks in” at a certain point and your skater will display this odd clunky movement

I've never played FIFA before, but my friend asked me to play, so I gave it a go. I don't have this input delay in FIFA, offline or online. I don't have it in any other game.
Something I posted a long time ago was about how NHL starts up. It will always shortcut boot up, and I'm not talking quick resume. Click the app and it's a grey loading screen. It will always show you the last played mode, even if you delete the game. The full reboot white EA screen -- which you cannot replicate with a factory reset, a game re-download.....anything EXCEPT clearing data offline and reloading the game offline -- appears on FIFA every single time you load the app. I find that unusual, especially since I don't have the same delay there.
Something is wrong with how EA NHL accesses my account/cloud/save data, and I'll die on that hill. It's why if I totally delete all save data (you have to do it twice), set my Xbox to offline only, and load the game not under any account, it feels normal in free skate. But as soon as you sign in, it will ask to load cloud data. I'm not sure how to square the circle of the game sometimes performing normally (offline too) at 3-4am. One of the cleanest nights of the year happened too immediately after the servers crashed.

@DeliveryForKikiI feel like if you give FIFA some time, the same issues will start occurring. I have the exact same issues in FIFA as mentioned previously. The input lag spills out into all offline modes when logged into the EA account. When logged out, everything works as intended.
The experience always degrades from the first time I start playing. First couple of weeks are good, and then the issues start. Happened on Xbox, PS, and PC. - 2 years ago
@MrTryfe @DeliveryForKiki Yeah it’s no different for me in FIFA. It’s just less noticeable if you 1.Aren’t as familiar with the game
2. Have no reference to times when the inputs were infinitely more responsive and precise.

Hello! I wanted to chime in on this discussion even though I dont play this game. I've been having similar problems on rainbow six siege on my xbox series s. The input feeling heavy, sluggish and delayed. I have searched all over the internet for fixes. I've swapped hardware and tried everything you possible can to fix this. I found this post and your comments about going offline and deleting the game data and that was what worked for me in r6s. As I suspected that its something to do with cloud data, syncing issues your method proved that. There is definitely something wrong with xbox syncing/ quick resume or something related to the cloud. Idk if the fix is permanent for me but for now it has worked. 👍

Hi there, @tktheraider
EA does not make the Rainbow Six games. I recommend contacting Ubisoft support for assistance.
