Hey guys, I have made a thread about how a "Simulation" environment would be awesome when playing ONLINE… Everyone that likes the game of hockey that loves to play like the real thing, make your voices heard, like I said in that thread, lol !
NHL-23-best-Gameplay-of-all-time-with-the-right-setup
I've hinted this a couple of times in different threads, but it never seems to catch on here 😧 I know SIM gameplay people are out there 😀
Hardcore Sim gameplay settings in online versus would disrupt the kiddos who just want to wheel-snipe-celly. EA would be flooded with complaints from the vocal majority that the game 'sucks' and to 'revert back to normal settings' after they begin getting destroyed by a META that rewards skill versus abuse.

But you would think that also "the vocal majority that thinks the game 'sucks'" eventually will match up against each other and at least 1 of the 2 will convert to vote for a META that rewards skill.
I think it would take some time for people to get use to a less 'sexy' gameplay were not everything is a 'slam-dunk', but when people do find it and they realize thats a whole lot of ugliness in realism.
Thats when the game starts to grow, fo real, when thoose 'highlight reel' you see often today becomes to be the rarity it deserves to be.
Imagine to actually be impress by the skill of your opponent.
If not everything would happen by some auto input.- 3 years ago

See Sega, my "highlight reel" are when I make a sound hockey play…. I pump my fist in the air when I score a goal that I would see in real life. A goal where I took the right decision and took the right angle or whatever. Not because I used a META over and over…
Usually people go play online to be with friends or for the competition… I mean all of this will still be there and more. More, because the Hockey CORE will be there and it will attract more players because of the true gameplay, I’m sure…

Hockey should be like a puzzle were every piece mather, you dont want EA to put out 998 of a puzzle of 1000 pieces and you get to put out the last 2 of them and pretend you have accomplish anything.
Or if your dream is to climb Mount Everest, but instead of taking the long run you take the helicopter to the top.
No satisfaction.
The more a human need to work for a result, the better satisfaction.
A whole lot goes on auto reapeat in our game, which I think is the reason why people loose intrest.
Need to be more of a challenge, something to work for, whats the point of doing something if everything comes easy and everyone knows how to do it?Another topic - OnlineVs is most close to be a simulation because of the constant ovr rating, which makes onlineVs a perfect suit for that purpose.
HUT is already HUT, onlineVs should at least try to be a mode for people that enjoy more of a realistic touch of the game then the speedx10 hockey on steroids you get with HUT' Zzzzz.

Yeah, I hear you big time on this… But the fix is easy… You would have 2 choices available when you go online.
1. Arcade
2. Hardcore Simulation
So no disruption there. I mean, all the majority of complaints I've seen for the past 10 years, is that EA's NHL doesn’t resembles real Hockey…
Slowly but surely the Hardcore Simulation Gameplay will take over Online and at the same time, this company will be taken seriously that they want the best representation of the sport… Win-Win, no ?
And on top of this, @EA_Aljo and @EA_Barry and company would have an easier job in the process 😉

The problem with 2 different modes is that it means 2 different leaderboards and stat tracking for each. Which, isn't as easy as it sounds to implement. Not that it's particularly challenging, but would take more time and resources that could be applied to more popular areas of the game. Online Versus is seen as a little more casual. I think making it sim would disappoint a large part of the playerbase. However, there are more hardcore players that don't enjoy HUT. In some ways, Online Versus can already be a challenge just due to having players closer to their real world abilities as opposed to the inflated HUT overalls. I always play with Arizona. When using a team with lower overalls, it can be pretty challenging. I'll pass on the feedback. Thanks!

Thanks for your input on this…
I don’t think that having 2 different leaderboard is that big of a deal… Once it is programmed (the leaderboard) it should run by itself, no ?
Im gonna share my first and LAST ONLINE experience in EAs NHL about 5 years ago….
I don’t exactly remember the mode, but I played against a kid that screamed in my ears the whole time. He scored 5 or 6 goals that were exactly the same. And when he scored, he would do a celebration where he went sliding face first on the ice 😳 So it was 6-0 in about 5 minutes… Let me tell you that it was the worst online experience of my whole life in any game… Never went online ever again…
That kid that probably used the META over and over all day long against other people too…. Is that suppose to be fun ? Challenging ? Is that the sport of Hockey ?
