NHL 23 Franchise, huge disappointment

Well now that NHL 23 updates have concluded, it’s safe to say that Franchise mode has become pretty dead.
it’s such a shame too.

FM has the potential to be such a fun, engaging and immersive game mode, but it’s constantly dragged down with huge glaring bugs that never get fixed, terrible awful AI that never gets looked at, and the half baked features that are thrown together into a big pot and pushed out the door.

i absolutely loved FM, and when NHL 20 dropped, it was almost getting to a half decent state of game. It was a 65% fun time. Still needed a lot of work, but it was enjoyable enough

and then X factors, and removing other mechanics of the game was its downfall

we used to be able to fix the CPU generated prospects by editing them. You could edit their names, player style and position so that it somewhat matched their attributes. They took that away from us in NHL 21.

we asked, for years, to be able to edit coaches since they were always buggy, didn’t make sense, never adapted their styles, never grew to adapt/accommodate players etc but then they locked us out of strategies as well in NHL 23 (which made it even worse because of a strategy bug that stayed in the game for MONTHS)

so since NHL 20 we’ve lost the ability to customize so much. They put in custom leagues, but that itself was poorly thought out, and all it really is, is just a schedule changer.

I’m very sad with how poorly EA’s NHL has gone downhill.

all our requests for customization, and bug fixes have gone ignored and unnoticed.

even BAP, a game mode I used to love, is just as terrible. No innovation for that game mode. Just broken dialogue, constant bugs, and they removed any sense of what it’s like to “be a pro”. You don’t have to work hard and earn your roster spot anymore. You are just given infinite chances even if you just idle your player all game.

i truly hope NHL 24 is different, but I also know it won’t be.
