@SvenArne123 wrote:@EA_Aljo Do you know if the custom league options are available for season mode as well?
I get the feeling that this will be replacing seasons and tournament mode. This is based on nothing but my own impression.
Hey, everyone. I'm very sorry for the lack of answers to all your questions. Unfortunately, I'm not an offline mode player so it takes some time to get answers and chances are good, I won't be able to get all your questions answered. What I can answer so far is this -
Every team cannot be controlled in custom leagues.
Players are not able to be fully customized in NHL 23.
Be A Pro will have the new strategies and X-Factors integrated into them.
I know this isn't the news many of you were hoping for and I hate to see the disappointment. I'll continue to relay your constructive feedback to the team.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo That is a HUGE L. Huge disappointment.
When you say players are not fully customizable, is it safe to say that they also aren’t semi-customizable MID franchise ie player position, player type etc? I’m assuming that we are still fully locked out because why would EA give us anything that we’ve asked for….
Also when you say you’re not an offline player and cannot get answers… does that mean you cannot ping the dev team and ask offline questions? Blueberry was able to ping them and (sometimes) get answers for offline related questions… not sure what you mean by that…
Be a Pro X factors and strategies hardly mean anything… so no comment on that as I have nothing good to say… besides huge disappointment.. - EA_Aljo3 years ago

I am asking questions, but I'm not able to get immediate answers. I'm getting all the details I can and will relay those if/when I have them.

Thanks for looking into it for me at least. IMO EA has to give us full user control of teams in franchise at the bare minimum next year if not a patch this year. You can user control all teams in Franchise mode in all other major sports titles from Madden to 2K.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo I was just confused by the way you worded.. wasn’t trying to imply you’re not asking questions. Please just let us know any info about Franchise Mode when or if you even get any…

Amazingly disappointing. I was so optimistic.

I appreciate you passing this all along and trying to get answers. Please give them this post word-for-word:
Until EA hires and listens to someone who plays these modes this reaction will continue to happen year after year.
- 3 years ago@kyl_35 Yeah this really needs to be reiterated to the EA dev team… quality assurance, the developers, whoever, there NEEDS to be someone that actually PLAYS the offline game modes… and someone who’s role is to LISTEN to the offline community feedback, and act accordingly…. Custom leagues is cool…. But useless without many supporting features….

This is by far one of the biggest insults I have ever seen by this company to its fans. GM connected should be added, the ability to edit players should be added. What justifies anyone buying this game at $70-100 USD dollars? It is a literal small patch... This is beyond ridiculous. EA should be ashamed of themselves and do things right in a patch. Add online franchise, add the ability to edit players in franchise. If not why should anyone buy this game?
- KlariskraysNHL3 years agoHero+@ZFGYT You just now understanding this? It's no different than Madden, FIFA, NBA2K. Once every 4-5yrs we see something worthy. But when licenses for just the NHL are like 3-4mil+ you gotta charge it.

@EA_Aljo @In case the gameplay is the same and it looks so from the gameplay test, you are a Franchise only Player and you use the 82 game schedule only, this game is worthless for you. Or understood I something wrong ?
Pro NHL 22. .... The much better Roster which EA can not deliver due Copyright of many Players. Took me hundrets of hours work to get it.
Pro NHL 23 ..... some new headshot Player pics ( maybe about 40% again with black Silhouettes like every year ) and about thirty new Player likenesses, the metalic helmets and the same old boring Goalie masks since years.
Not a good deal for NHL23
- SnizzBarDizz2oh3 years agoRising Veteran@EA_Aljo thank you for taking the time to seek out the answers. I really think the dev team is listening and doing what they can / when they can. Which is why I ask…
would it be possible to look into some of these Q’s?
how many created teams fit on a roster?
- it’s always been 50, I assume with 48 team league limits nothing here has changed.
how many created players on a roster?
- I believe it was around the 600’s
Has there ever been talk about a way to implement a copy/paste tool for moving teams/players to different rosters?
Is there a “no duplicate players” option again?
can we use smaller arenas in franchise mode/creation zone?
- The Coyotes may finally make this a thing
Is there a better “out of town” scoreboard?
As a player that uses a franchise tracker it’s a bummer you can’t see every box score of every game.
Can we change the color of cages on helmets? - - This is a small thing, but it’s kind of a diss to female players that they all have to wear the generic college helmet with whatever color cage attached, especially if they are sponsored.
Super pumped for the game this year .Thanks! - ZFGYT3 years agoNew Traveler
FR, this game isn't worth full price at all. It is an insult to us as consumers. The only thing NHL 23 proves is how having a monopoly on a gaming market screws the customers. #ADDGMConnected #FixNHLFranchise
- ZFGYT3 years agoNew Traveler@SnizzBarDizz2oh You have way too much faith in EA... this game is an insult if anything. $70-100 for a small patch. No big updates. This would have been the year to do online franchise and change up the mode to allow people to edit players.... another year of seeing Geno, Oshie, Kessel etc end up in the AHL because of EA not allowing you to edit them.
- 3 years ago@ZFGYT Yeah the edit player function is literally right there… we’re just locked out of it. Is it really that hard to just unlock it? I mean not a whole lot else went into Franchise mode development besides the customs leagues… which again, is pretty useless if you can’t customize the players as well… I doubt any MULTIPLE ANNUAL ISSUES were addressed…. So literally only one thing was done for offline players. That’s literally it because Be a Pro is literally the same, besides more strategies and X factors. So we literally got almost NOTHING for offline players…
- ZFGYT3 years agoNew Traveler@heavydutyrammer If im correct Madden a couple years ago had the same issue... EA can add an update that has online franchise and unlocks player edit.... I just dont see how they can justify $70-100 USD... We are literally being robbed with how little difference this game is.
- ZFGYT3 years agoNew Traveler@heavydutyrammer I also do not understand why they wont do online franchise.... it is free marketing in an era of YouTube/Twitch... Content creator 32 team franchises, subscriber franchises, etc. Fr actually hoping there is a class action lawsuit over this. Don't know how they can justify $70-100 USD. This is clearly showing how a monopoly is screwing customers.

Your frustrations are shared, and believe me I too think EA makes a horrible NHL product, but just so you're aware...EA doesn't own exclusive rights to make NHL games. Any other developer can acquire the NHL license to create NHL hockey games. The problem is simply there are no other studios out there who want to do so. Unfortunately until another studio steps up EA will bask in mediocrity until they have actual competition.
Until then we're stuck with what EA gives us.

@ZFGYTYeah the edit player function is literally right there… we’re just locked out of it. Is it really that hard to just unlock it?It’s so infuriating. I can’t count how many times we asked for this to be unlocked over the past 11 months, or how clear we made the case and how we’d explain that having it unlocked would fix so many other things that were annoying us.
To have those requests outright ignored is super disheartening. I was sure when I saw the custom leagues, this unlock feature would be there because I saw custom leagues as EA trying to listen to feedback. Instead it looks like they already had custom leagues on the road map and to hell with anything the people who play the game want.
- 3 years ago@kyl_35 What really bothers me… is when EA had us list all the attributes etc we would like to be able to edit… half a year ago or so. Blueberry DMed me personally and I tagged a bunch of people in that post… I think I tagged you too. And it was all for nothing I guess?

That kind of feedback is never for nothing. While I get it looks that way, we get way more requests for features than we're able to add in a year. That doesn't mean they'll never be added, but there's also no guarantee it'll happen either.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo I would never expect every single feature to make it in… but for us offline players… Be a Pro got no new updates (I’m not counting more X factor and strategies as updates… ) and Franchise Mode only got a single thing, that is hardly a feature without the ability to customize players as wel… those two go hand in hand….
It definitely feels like it was for nothing… one update between the two modes… I don’t see how that is worth 80 dollars… and it really feels like a slap to the face… it’s been years of disappointment now…
