NHL 23 Missing Players?
Why are there players missing from the game? For example, the Habs don't have Kaiden Guhle or Arber Xhekaj and they are not part of Laval or their OHL teams...

Community ManagerWe can't add players to their NHL teams until they play their first NHL shift. I'll try to find out the status of these 2 players.

Yes I know. But Guhle is not on is NHL team is on is WHL team so he is not missing from the game. Players like Xhekaj or Evans are just missing. At launch the CHL roster is from last season, so with this logic they should be in the launch roster like Guhle. Its not just the two player I use in exemple there is more players missing that should be there in the CHL at launch. Its frustrating for player who play offline franchise because yes we know that player comming from NCAA and KHL wont be in the game before at least the first roster update but there is no excuse for player who were already in the game last year in the CHL or the AHL especially when some player are there and other are not (talking about players in the same situation) it really prove that is not a license thing for these players. Another exemple is Gianni Fairbrother who play in the AHL (Laval) last years and he is still in the AHL this year but he is missing from the game. This is not a license thing because he should be in the AHL with Laval plain and simple but he is not. This is the point of this post, people who play offline dont care that player are not directly with their NHL team they just want the players to be in the game because after that in franchise mode we can move up the player in the NHL or AHL.

I don't have details on the next roster update, but there should be additions to the rosters. If we don't include a player, it's due to not having their rights. We can't have players in the game that we don't have rights to.

Ok , so how come you dont have the right to a player who was in the AHL last year and he still in the AHL this year on the same NHL contract ?Some players are missing by mistake thats all. We just try to give constructive feedback on roster.
We all know the licence things but if look at some situation its clears the player are missing because of a mistake. If you dont have the answer its ok, like I said its mostly just feedback that I wanted to give.
This is perhaps the first year that it's a week after the game's release and the rosters aren't up to date. A lot of players are missing including Sedlák (Colorado) Regenda (Anaheim) and others. At the same time, 4 to 5 rounds have already been played. Any chance the update will come out this week or next month?

Players have to agree to be in the game. If we don't get their signed paperwork stating this, they can't be included. @EA_AljoI found out why so many Players have no headshot Images all the years. Nothing to do with license, you have them all with the NHLPA license you bought. You simply use the Images from one year ago. You also did this Image work for NHL games long time ago, maybe spring every year. Thats why are so many Images missing and many have old pics from years ago. So no up to date work in summer for this, simply old. So once again ..... If your company is to lazy to add current new pics, let us do it in our custom Rosters. Luckily I didn't bought NHL 23.
@EA_AljoSure the Images which was sent by the Leagues in spring from last year ( Season 2020/21 ) and not the current from the Teams which they made at the Player presentation mid September. I guess you added this photos to the game in spring. The most are no up to date Player pics. Your Rosters are horrable also about the Player attributes and ratings and this since years. Sorry to say, but poor work for a multi million Dollar company. By the way why you don't use the Images from Hut for the headshot portraits ?

They all and more played games last year and some years before like Boldy and Kochetkov
And please remove the many old headshots from last year and year before. We have now start of Season 22/23 and not Season 21/22.

@EA_Aljo No new headshot pictures in the roster update from today ? Hope you will update at the next update together with the AHL Rookies. Notice that the most pics are old and from Season 21/22 or older. If you don't have current for the missing than use pics from Hut. It can't be so hard to do that. Thanks !
@EA_AljoBut nearly all pictures are from before the start of season 2021/22, sometimes even a season older and not from before the start of the season 2022/23. So this headshots are more than a year or even two years older and can not be the current sent. You also have the possibility to use HUT pictures as portraits for the missing important players till you get them. NHL 23 with old portraits from before season 2021/22 and older are not acceptable. No other sport game doing this. If means for example Sandersons picture will not be in NHL 24 earliest in NHL 25 cause is not at the NHL website now and you always use headshots which was sent a season before and no current sent. Other Sport games also add likenesses during the year in an update. From the NHL Team we got twentyfour this year and twenty are removed cause retirement or playing now in other not licensed leagues. No step forward, every year the same scheme.
This is probably the one time I will defend EA this year, because calling this years game and roster a disappointment would be way too generous.
Team head shots are done in camp at the beginning of the year. Due to licensing issues EA is stipulated to only use headshots sent to them by the respective league where the player plays.
More than likely EA is getting the current years headshots before players report to camp. That is probably why headshots tend to be outdated or not available
- @Caliboy6262_714 Ok and what speaks against to ask the leagues for missing headshots and to update later ? They updated Zegras in a Roster update later in NHL 22. Some years ago, guess it was the Rookie year of McAvoy there was a big headshot update in January or February. So it is possible. They also can use HUT Images from this players till they have ? By the way, the most headshot Images are made from Getty Images photographs. I think where is a will there is a way. I know for many this is not important, for some yes. But If you do not change the small things and details and ignore customers wishes since a decade the result you can read in this massive negative threads here and elsewhere in other forums and social media. Every company is as good as they listen to their customers wishes, also If its small one.
Hounding leagues for updated player portraits is probably very low priority for them after release. I mean they can’t even be bothered to add players who have already played in the AHL last year to the roster without a portrait. So they are more than likely not going to make it a priority to add player portraits for players in game. I am not trolling devs so please don’t ban me again. I am just trying to be honest with this user
@Caliboy6262_714No one will ban you for the truth. Since years I pray here, in other forums, social media about more player likenesses, headshot pictures.
- @EA_Aljo I took a look in the roster updates you released for NHL 22. Oct.4th, Oct. 9th, Oct. 20th, Oct. 22, Nov. 2nd, Nov. 5th, Nov. 24th since this rosters Trevor Zegras and Spencer Knights headshot images not in. You added them at the roster update from Dec. 8th. So it is wrong that you need to update the Images before game is launched. So it is possible to add headshots for players like Beniers, Boldy, Kent Johnson, Blankenburg, Brink later as the launch date of the game. And yes, they have them oficialy on the NHL website.
@Froommey I totally get where your coming from, they simply just don’t care about accurate rosters.
Last year Matt Boldy played almost 60 games in the AHL and they didn’t even bother adding him until he made his NHL debut,
Yet, there was a glitch yesterday where you could put any player at any position you wanted in HUT, and they fixed it within a couple of hours,
It’s just not something that anywhere near the top of their priority list. As soon as you accept it the better you will feel.- @Caliboy6262_714 No, no. To force them will bring very small success. I had in player likenesses, headshot images some small success during the years. That last year Zegras and Knights headshot came in later after the release maybe my success. Same as some likenesses of Donato, Kotkaniemi. Never give up to give pressure. I know that they fixed the Hut problem during some hours and ignored all the massive bugs for offline modes. Sorry forgot, they fixed one. lol ;-) They going to destroy the game. Part after part, from year to year. My prophecy that the crossplatform for online will be the next desaster.
Just an FYI. Matt boldy played almost a whole season in the AHL and didn’t get added until he made his NHL debut. If you are waiting for certain AHL rookies to be added you may be waiting a while.
Also, in years past it has been like December when they finally update the AHL and juniors
It starts to add them mid November up till early December. I know this process of AHL waiver very well since many years. As I remember Boldy had a long term injury at the beginning of his AHL Season so he was not able to sign the waiver. Same last year with Holloway, so he was not in the game too at NHL 22 as Boldy in 21. If an AHL rookie has a long term injury at the beginning of a season the chances are low that he signs this waiver form. Only thing he will be added when playing minimum one NHL game.
