Hi PK,
I want to give you some feedback on your sliders and roster setup. It's just my little opinion :-)
I started a new season with the Sharks (a few better teams might be out there but I like their jerseys :-).
In the meanwhile I played 10 games. I know you do not like to hear that...but I do not play "position locked"....maybe one day I will ;-).
Just 2 minor tweaks (period length down to 10 minutes, pass assistance from 0 to 15) and I was good with the control of the entire team. So, let's roll out the feedback:
what I like:
- first to mention is your power and effort in order to adapt the entire NHL roster...what a bunch of work
- appreciate also that the important trades are considered
- the flow and pace of the gameplay feel realistic (as much as it can be in a video game)
- loosing pucks and boardplay battles are really good
- the game statistics are well balanced (SOG 25-45...once also up to 50, but this was due to unusual high amount penalties and very aggressive CPU)
- the time on attack is fairly equal
- also the team statistics are quite realistic (average goals for and against stats seem to be like in real life)
- each game plays a bit different...low, middle and high scores...(but not unrealistic, my highest score was 7 and CPU's highest 8)...usually goal scores are around 3-6
- good goal variations, also from the CPU....I have seen slapshots, snapshots, one timers, rebounds, deflections, screens, breakaways, 2 on 1, powerplay pressure....and also cheesy goals. They do exist in Hockey...if you like them or not :-)
- hitting feels good and challenging on hitting assistance 0....usually I never took care about the hits but now I have to try my best in order to make a hit and keep up with the AI :-)
- all in all the game is challenging, after 10 games my score is 6-4-0.....(some Sharks manager might be proud ;-)
- no easy wins and no unfair losses...as you also described, normally it does not feel bad after a loss because the gameplay and the stats were balanced...no overpowered CPU
- passing...sometimes I have seen super cool CPU passes, realistic passing, not the "AI God mode" anymore
- ...and probably more I forget to mention right now :-)
what I don't like:
- maybe sometimes penalties are too less....but sometimes they are good and realistic. But I think these are game mechanics which can not be changed easily.
- what else....nothing :-)
Thanks again PK for your hard work and the sharing of its result... and not to forget also much appreciation for the great NHL 24 pre-trailers :-).
All the best and I am sure you enjoy your own setup too :-)
Thanks so much for sharing your time with this setup. It’s much appreciated 😀
I’m in heaven right now 😀 First of all for people like you that gets to see what I see and also YES, I get to enjoy the Gameplay you have no idea..
Don’t feel bad for playing with the Sharks, they were one of my go to team when I was testing and testing and testing, lol ! How can you stay away from these White unis ? Magnifique 😎
I play 16 or 17 minutes periods these days and the Stats are on NHL level, even less sometimes…
Now a few questions and remarks I have for you…
I get why you put pass assist at 15 especially when you play as the whole team. But at 0, this is where it brings the passing game at a whole new level. It gets a bit to get used to, but sometimes you can pass the puck to an open area where only your teammates can get to… Something you can’t do with pass assist ON…
Also, sometimes just changing ONE value in the sliders can disrupt the whole pace, the whole flow of the game. Be very wary of this.. Trust me on this one.
The reasons why I’m preaching Player LOCK 🔒 is that the game and especially the AI plays much better. Just for this it’s worth it…For me player locking is a way of life, lol ! You get to do your part on a very fast team sport. Every little decisions you do count… Should I pinch here ? Should I stay back to cover this guy ? Should I call for a line change here ? Can I keep the puck a little longer to give my teammates time to change ? Also never asking for a pass brings another level of authenticity to all of this, on top of having 0 pass assist…. You really have to AIM your passes and wait for your teammate on the other end of it, to be in the best disposition to receive it… It feels REAL 😀 You also get to be a MAJOR part of your teams success. Your own play gets to dictate the outcome like never before especially when playing on D… Just try it for 1 or 2 games with Karlsson, Ferraro and friends and you’ll probably never look back after that 😉
Anyhow, you will still get your PK's Club membership card in the mail, it’s just that it won’t be VIP…… YET 😉😆
Thanks a million again for the nice feedback !
Peace ✌️

Hey everyone ! Hope all is well…
For the folks following my NHL23 Setup from here, there was an update today on Operation Sports 😀
With the collaboration of my GM GTPO and zevon_99, we came up with a few minor tweaks, without compromising the very important Game FLOW. You will find them in BOLD on the main page of the Slider section 😀 Enjoy !
