I wish someone had the funds/influence to convince 2k to try their hand at NHL again. Just once. The only way EA is going to stop going backwards is if something threatens their profits. I used to go crazy with anticipation in the summer for the next NHL game. I just want the kind of franchise mode that NBA 2k or The Show has for their sports, but since I only play offline and don't give them a penny in microtransactions they don't give a single crap. And the complete lack of transparency/honesty is insulting. This would not fly in any other business, but that's the problem. No competition.

This. Exactly this.

Anyone remember EA Sports NBA game NBA Live? 2k wiped the floor with it and put out a 500 percent better product. If o my they would do that for Hockey. EA has ruined sports gaming.

This is a crossing road for the ea nhl series. The quality of nhl series have been in decline for year. Doing a disapointing product is one thing, and you can save the year after with interesting feature, but lying to customer with false and misleading advertising is not something you can salvage the next year without correcting current situation.
A lot of offline fan are going to decide wathever they want to ever give ea money again base on how they fix the totaly unnaceptable state of the game right now. They have to fix presentation, refund customer or next year, they may not have a lot if offline customer left.
I think a lot of fan are angry against ea right now and they won't give ea a chance next year unless ea make it right this year.
- T2HD3 years agoRising Veteran@Cote12 Amen!! EA's NHL game is a virtual hockey card store with a crappy game attached as opposed to what 2K would release (just look at how AMAZING the NBA2K series is). Even if 2K included a micro-transaction component, I'm confident that it would be part of a game that actually played like a real game of hockey and wasn't filled with glitches, bugs and rehashed garbage year after year (since at least 2014 for EA). Also, it would have features that customers and fans actually asked for (versus being ignored year after year by EA within their own Forum). The bottom line is that consumers have suffered since EA became the only game in town for the NHL AND NFL games. Monopolies are never a good thing (beyond a board game). I love the ambition 2K have for their game. You really can see and hear in the way they present their new "ERA" option for offline mode that they really want to put out the best game out there. And for NBA2K 23 they even managed to put in more than they had planned for in the beginning.
But when we talk about NHL games from EA I havent seen that fire in them, no one in their company talks out the games or something. Their "Deep dive" is so lame, it is so far from a deep dive you can do for a game. Every "Deep dive" video their released only created more questions than answers...
EA Sports NHL needs to step up the game, because it has been a sad downhill the latest years..... and my heart is sad of that, I have played NHL games since the 93 game for Sega Megadrive...
- 3 years ago@MV75 “Deep dive”? You mean how they talk about X factors for 8 of the 9 minutes? Lol yeah… they are not deep dives anymore. They can’t be deep dives because there isn’t enough updates/material to warrant a deep dive…
I’ve loved and played NHL games for years… NHL 21 was the initial start of the decline for me… NHL 22 was a big drop off, with NHL 23 being dropped off the freakin’ cliff…. - Kmahrle833 years agoRising Veteran@Aralkar This isn't the first time they have false advertised features either. Several years ago, RIGHT ON THE GAME CASE it said legends would be playable in franchise. At release they weren't there and EA didn't mention it until people called them out.
They claimed they were having bugs with them and they would be included in a patch. Months go by and EA ignores everyone about it until the next game came out. See they can literally false advertise on the case and nothing is done. The video games industry needs someone to start regulating all the shady crap companies like EA do. They don't even try to hide it.
