3 years agoHi there, @southpaw86
Where are you located? A 110 ping sounds like you're pretty far from a server. There could be any number of things causing a high ping. When you do a general speed test, what do you get for your download/upload and packet loss?
- southpaw863 years agoSeasoned Scout@EA_Aljo This is mainly Chel Clubs when playing with guys from both east and west. The pings varying isn’t so much the issue as it’s acknowledged “ if the guys in the west are pinging good, the guys in the east are pinging fair too poor and vice versa” so it’s a matter who takes the host spot.
As a rule for us as an example, If anyone is pinging over 80, chances are you’ll get slapped with packet loss on top of a poor ping. So knowing who’s pinging what is extremely important every game.
Not everyone pays as close attention to this as we do. And when you get used to the good to poor system, you also get used to skimming the connection and readying up.
So my question is why the tweak? Who does this benefit when 110 ping shows up as fair connection? Just seems like a great way to sucker the youth and the other people paying less attention into poor quality matches rather than an improvement to the game or it’s connectivity.- EA_Aljo3 years ago

I think the issue is the distance. For example, if your captain is on the east coast, they should be getting an east coast server. The west coast players in that lobby are going to get a poor connection. The same goes for the east coast players when the captain is from the west coast.
- southpaw863 years agoSeasoned Scout@EA_Aljo I totally understand this part of it. My club has been together 8+ years and we’ve always been a mixed breed of guys anywhere from Newfoundland to California. This is why we pay so close attention to everyone’s pings. It’s not that we can’t connect to a playable game together, it’s that we rely on the ping display to know when to go in a game vs back out.
My issue is the 20 ping difference to what’s considered good to poor, vs the previous update. In fact nowhere within the details of the update is it mentioned that this would change.
My overall point, this change has done nothing to improve the online gaming experience, it’s misleading to those less educated on ping rates as to what’s an acceptable ping to play on, and seeking a more detailed reasoning as to why EA would change this good to poor rating system in regards to pings if there is by chance a beneficial reasoning to it.
