3 years agoI think the issue is the distance. For example, if your captain is on the east coast, they should be getting an east coast server. The west coast players in that lobby are going to get a poor connection. The same goes for the east coast players when the captain is from the west coast.

@EA_Aljo I totally understand this part of it. My club has been together 8+ years and we’ve always been a mixed breed of guys anywhere from Newfoundland to California. This is why we pay so close attention to everyone’s pings. It’s not that we can’t connect to a playable game together, it’s that we rely on the ping display to know when to go in a game vs back out.
My issue is the 20 ping difference to what’s considered good to poor, vs the previous update. In fact nowhere within the details of the update is it mentioned that this would change.
My overall point, this change has done nothing to improve the online gaming experience, it’s misleading to those less educated on ping rates as to what’s an acceptable ping to play on, and seeking a more detailed reasoning as to why EA would change this good to poor rating system in regards to pings if there is by chance a beneficial reasoning to it.

There was an issue at release where the ping was listed incorrectly. That was fixed in an early patch so I don't know why it would all of a sudden go up. I'm also not seeing other reports of this, but will look out for them. Regardless, the father you are from the server the game is hosted on, the higher your ping will be.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo All im trying to say is that 2 weeks ago if you had 110 ping it always showed poor. The day of the update it changed. The fact that it hasn’t been mentioned maybe is because it’s such a subtle change that it’s going to take an overly perceptive sucker like myself to take notice to it. I’ve noticed it twice now.
For me, I’ve caught it. So I know now when I’m skimming not to trust it says fair before I hastily ready up and actually look at the ping. Usually I’m looking at opposing builds/players, or 20ft away from my tv, so I used to be able to trust the colour. I can’t do that now.
For new players, those less knowledgeable about connectivity, or people really just not paying attention, this is a much bigger deal. My post is not biased towards my personal experience as much as it is a perspective on a bad decision that will inevitably cause more disappointment within the community.
I strongly recommend dialing it back and making it a more reliable feature for customers. When the complaints do come in about connectivity, who’s going to be the observant enough one to go maybe we shouldn’t have changed that and this wouldn’t have happened, rather than oh well they’ve been complaining about this forever.
You dig?

I checked in to this and nothing has changed on our end in regards to how pings are displayed.
