Usually it only goes on sale for like 25% off; I wonder how bad it actually sold to force them into a 50+% off sale earlier than usual. Unfortunately, the HUT whales will probably make up for it ☹️

Perhaps people are more careful with their money, the global economy is having a hard time.
And Co's are doing their best to adjust to the consumers wallet.
Some long-term clients will always buy the game at full price at the realese after that when the demand dies and the game drops in value, the price fall.
Business as usual.
~ 70 $ is quite costly for a product that have a relatively short life.
To compare with a pair of jeans for the same price.
But ofc, if you got the strength to wait, 25 bucks is a pretty decent price to pay, a price you don't need to feel embarrassed for paying. 😊 - drewgriffiths3 years agoSeasoned Veteran
@TasteofChicago91 It’s not messed up, that’s just how everything is now with sales. I got my copy of NHL 23 digitally as part of Black Friday weekend here in the UK for roughly half price. On the flip side, I did pay £90 (roughly $110 USD) for PGA Tour 2K23 Deluxe Edition and I don’t regret it, even if someone else got it a month or two later for half the price. We all know what’s gonna happen when games come out and it’s our own choice whether to buy them new, during a sale, second hand or not at all.
…. And a few games I’ve bought i wish I hadn’t 😆
Rule of thumb... if the game is releasing a month or 2 before Black Friday then wait for the sale to get a nice deal unless it's Nintendo and they somehow hate giving discounts even on games years old.

At least good companies like CD Projekt Red offered to give money back to the people they fleeced and actually worked on fixing their product after they released it far too early. - @TheUnusedCrayon They also didn't have all those league licenses that costs millions of dollars either. I remember the last time a Nascar game was made the license cost them like 6mil. NHL license is probably around 3mil per year alone.
And if you saw how much FIFA wanted EA to pay just for the name FIFA then you would see why the price is what it is. - RatedxPGxEnigma3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@TasteofChicago91This happens everywhere. NHL tix drop significantly in price as the game approaches puck drop. EANHL may be the only pro-sports game you can buy on holiday sale and not fall behind in HUT/WOC.
Def save your money when it comes to these games

@Sega82mega 😆 There’s not many of us here in the UK at all. So much so that if you wanted a new physical copy of NHL 23 in the UK, you’d have to get it on import and pay more, unlike FIFA (of course), Madden and even NBA 2K.
… and to think I’ve played these since EA Hockey in 1991
