Profane Names

Hi, I have had warnings that making my World of Chel player name Bustin Dyfuglien was inappropriate, along with others that I have used previously like Skin-Eater now being considered profane. What I don't understand is why I can't use those names, but Quebec players can get away using French Canadian profanities, which in terms of offensiveness is way worse. Not only are they using their language to get around the swearing filters for English speaking players, but it is soo much worse because they use blasphemous words. I thought this game was supposed to be for everyone, but there is clear religious bigotry from some of the players using the French Canadian "sacres".

I have tried reporting these names, and either EA doesn't act on the reports I have done, or there is just too many people using these slurs to even make a dent in the number of people using them. Perhaps they need to be added to the profanity filter. A lot of these words are way more offensive than the "F-Bomb" as they are often very sacrilegious as well. Hopefully this can get looked at by the people in charge of the name profanity filters.

Signed,

A Concerned Ktulu

  • This is the kind of stuff I am talking about, People get arbitrary warnings/bans/suspensions for stuff like that and people using actually offensive names by getting around the profanity filter with special characters or other languages seem to just get away with it without any repercussions.

Could just come down to a language barrier of some sort - We can't help with bans/account related issues on AHQ but I'm sure if you opened a ticket with an EA Help agent and explained your report, they'd be better able to work out what to do with those players.

Skin-eater is weird and a "Skin Enthusiast" could easily be associated with something nudity related which is against ToS

with that logic you can say the same thing about some of the gimmicky X Factors they have such as

    “third eye”

    “big tipper”

“bouncer” (this one’s a bit of a stretch)

I can guarantee that big tipper would get you banned if you had it as your name

"Brown Eye" and "Big Tip" would make more sense but I get your point. There are a bunch of inconsistencies, unfortunately.

  • @TTZ_Dipsy It’s just the general ineffectiveness that EA always brings to the table whether it be lack of bug fixes, broken game modes, no communication from dev team, lack of/poor/misguided leadership, and the undeserving bans due to the very poor profanity system
