Re: Adjust button pre/post action delay (touch pass / shooting without puck delay)

Hi there, @Lemanski83

Thanks for the report. How frequently is this happening? Have you also tried another controller?

    This is always the case and not a controller issue. I'm playing CHEL and other players I play with noticed the same thing. I'm guessing some delays were adjusted from NHL22.

    In 22 you could press pass before the puck would get to your player and your player would pass it as soon as he received it (one touch).

    And for keeping the shot command active, it's like 6+ seconds now which is much longer than in 22 and arguably it was too long in 22 as well. The shot should be canceled shortly after the puck misses the receiving player or at least have some button combo (or realistically any other button) cancel the shot (used to be able to press lb+rb a few games ago to cancel).

    Thanks.

    It's been working for me in WoC and HUT. I'm also not seeing other reports of this. Can you try another mode and let me know if it still happens?

    For whatever reason, the instant replay at the end of period isn't showing button presses but I've tried recording myself and the actual controller. This is in WoC Proam (as it's the easiest to demonstrate). I'm calling for the pass, then pressing pass as the puck is coming to me (in order to one touch) but the command is ignored and the player just skates with the puck.

    I'm unsure how it's working for you as everyone that I play with is reporting the same issue.

    For the player shooting well after missing the puck, I'll try to get videos but that's a harder scenario to setup.

    It doesn't look like you're hitting pass before the puck reaches the receiver. Can you get another video showing that happening?

    As far as shots still happening a few seconds after missing the puck goes, that is pretty annoying. I've experienced the same thing, but it's also been happening for a couple of years now. I know the dev team is aware of it, but I'll pass on that feedback.

    I'll try to record a better video. It's hard to set it up - I was hoping it would show button presses in the replay like it did before but it's not working.

    For the shot still happening, it was always annoying for sure but I feel like it's 2-3x longer now. Used to be able cancel with LB in like NHL21. Even that would be great.

    As a side question - any reason why Lemanski is flagged as an inappropriate name? I have to use Lemmanski in game...

    Thanks for taking the time.

    @Lemanski83

    You're very welcome!

    I'm looking into the issue with missed shots. I'll let you know if I have any news on that.

    Thanks for trying to get the video. I know it's a pain. I haven't been able to reproduce this as of yet, but will keep an eye out for it. It looks like you're using a standard Xbox Series S/X controller. Is that correct? Does the same thing happen with it plugged in?

    @EA_AljoI will say buttons seem to be more responsive when plugged in and the vibrations suddenly work as well. It's strange that the issue appeared out of nowhere.. It's still not 100% though.

  • I wish they would re-work one touch passes/one timers. It shouldn't fire unless you're holding the button, that way there's no confusion on if it should do the one touch/shoot puck.

    Ex, if the puck is coming your way and you want to one touch pass it, press and hold the pass button. If you're holding the pass button when your player receives the puck, he will one touch pass it.

    Same with the shot, if you're not holding the shoot button when your player picks up the puck, you shouldn't shoot it

    @csedin1422

    The problem with holding in the button is that you'd have a fully charged pass. As far as I know, it's still pressure sensitive so you can adjust the speed of the pass.
