Re: Players with puck randomly stop skating

Deleted all offline data,started game again,everything got back from the cloud,hopped into challenges and pretty much instantly players stop skating

This is a weird one. I've heard of it happening a few times before, but it's been related to controller issues. Unfortunately, I'm really not sure what to try. Do you have another console by chance? If so, I'd like you to see if it happens there as well. That would narrow down the problem to being related to your console. 

Have you deleted and reinstalled the game yet? If not, give that a shot and see if it helps.

I've also tried all the above with no fix.

I think I have had this bug maybe two weeks now, and at first it wasn't as bad as now. Now it's almost every time I get the puck. And sometimes when I can skate with the puck it feels very stiff and feels like holding down L3 doesn't have effect at all.

Does this happen when you switch to skill stick? Also, which controller are you using? Make sure it has the latest firmware update under Devices and connections > Accessories.

Reinstall and controller update didn't help either. It's still happening. ☹️

Edit: it's actually worse now,it happens more and more and it's harder to get rid of. even taking few shots doesn't help

What kind of controller are you using? Is it an Elite one by chance?

It's a regular xb series controller (and actually the one that came with the console).

I'm have tried three different PS5 controllers. Also using skill stick has this same bug.

I've noticed that when I'm putting a player to auction house and choose keyboard for inputting selling price, the "keyboard" moves to left side of the screen automatically without me pressing any buttons.

So it seems like right stick is drifting and this happens with every three controllers and I'm not having this bug in any other games.

I'm not sure if PlayStation has a controller test, but it sounds like you have some drift. When you stickhandle by moving your stick left and right, your player will stop skating. It sounds like that is what is happening. Can you check to see if there's something in the settings or an app you can download that will test your controller? I realize you've tried 3 controllers, but the only thing I can think of is some problem that's causing that drift. That will definitely make your player stop skating with the puck.

I ran the controller on gamepad-tester website,and it seems that right stick is drifting upwards a bit (in the screenshot below) which probably leads to this issue,tho i thought it had to be drifting left or right. The other testing soft did not detect anything. Looks like the controller that came with console is faulty.

Then i tested the controller for which the passing stops working but for that one the left stick is drifting a bit,but i don't know how that would affect pass not working (right stick is fine on that one)

I have some air compressors and will try to see if there's any dust to be pulled out.

Any movement on the right stick will put your player into a glide so it makes sense this would cause the issue. It's odd though that this is happening with the other controllers as well. Did you test those also?

\yes,i tested the other one. For that one there is no right stick drift so no gliding,but then the pass and saucer buttons don't work until a shot button is pressed.

Are you saying the pass and saucer pass button doesn't work when you press it until the first shot of the game is taken?

It can randomly happen at any point in the game,both pass and saucer inputs stop responding until shot button is pressed. I don't know what could be triggering that.

Are you able to go in to practice mode and still have this happen? Does it also occur when you have the controller plugged in?

Practice is fine and the bug had only happened twice today

Can you get some video of this happening? I know that's difficult since you'll have to say when you're trying to pass, but it might help. It's a weird issue for sure. Also, is it happening if you play with the controller plugged in?

This bug was experienced by myself yesterday in Rivals. Keso, and a few others have had it also. It is something to do with the last chance puck movement button being the trigger also from our troubleshooting. Very rare but annoying when the players stop all over a sudden with the puck and you lose speed.

Sorry for late reply. Here's a video. Used cable on my controller and offline hut rush. Basically when McDavid gets puck here i tried pass or saucer around 10-12 times and no response on input.Only after when i got offside and shot the puck and took next faceoff the pass worked again.

Have you tried a brand new controller? This is a really odd issue that I'm rarely seeing any reports on. Whenever I'd had this issue personally, it's always been a problem with the controller.

I don't have a chance right now to get a new controller,probably will have to stick with these 2 for now

Can you try deleting your data again, but this time delete the cloud data too. You won't lose any HUT or WoC content/progress. Also, have you tried deleting and reinstalling? You could also try factory resetting your Xbox.

Didn't have much chane to play in last 7 days,but did all of that. Issue did go away for some games,then came back in one game only. Now still happens,but quite rarely. I guess i can live with that for now.
