I was keeping up hope that they actually were taking our concerns to heart but after today and that marketing video.. all my hope is lost and I strongly believe that they feel they put out a perfect game.
This really isn't the case. Marketing promotions are planned out way in advance. Also, keep in mind that if anything changes, it's not going to be until there's a patch. I really don't know if the presentation is going to be updated or not, but we're still extremely well aware of the community's feelings on this.

@EA_Aljo I know that stuff is planned out but knowing upset your player base is over this and it not being delayed to try and rectify the situation is where my hope is lost.. cause with it your are telling people that it's in the game but it's not fully there for presentation as well as other features. It's the fact there is no feeling towards the player base and the concerns we have. I really wonder how far our concerns really go. That is why my hope is gone for the franchise as a whole.
Also, can you please look into and confirm why a pre existing feature can not be added back? I'm not sure a pre existing feature is considered updating presentation.

@EA_AljoAll the years nearly all your customers asked for more presentation, more cutscenes, statistics, information to give this game a better Broadcast feeling and what did you ? You removed the most of this things during the years. Absolutely not accebtable ! A gameplay without a good presentation looks stale, even If the gameplay is better. Intro like in beer Leagues, but with a lot of crowds. EA never listen to their customers, they always promising much and doing contrary things.

Actually I was expecting to see new cutscenes, new shots of players with stats. Finally, a graphic with stats when the goalkeepers change. Milestones of players. For example, highlights of goalie saves, during the game. Best hits during the match. etc...it's just, when I think about it, I get really angry.

Everyone who has bought this game has a right to be fuming.
-The game is not cheap, but you want to support videogame hockey.
-The marketing stated presentation was upgraded; great!
-It was the main selling point for all offline players; everything else looked the same.
The reality is that the presentation has been downgraded. There is no debate here. It's cut and dried. The marketing, which now contains demonstrable falsehoods, is still being used to promote this title, even though this thread, Reddit, Operation Sports and other fora are as incandescent with anger and consumer regret for any EA backed title since the Battlefront controversy.
An IGN review appeared that again posts a false narrative of what this game actually is. Promotional material still hangs around post release even though it is not a true reflection of the title. More customers are duped, this thread gets larger and ever more discontented.
I'm not sure why EA think they get some kind of pass here. You don't. "Oh it's only hockey..." doesn't wash. The creator of No Man's Sky had tough questions to answer, Cyberpunk 2077 certainly received extreme heat and no quibble refunds were the order of the day.
There has to be official word from the producers of NHL 23 direct to the consumer on a clearly defined schedule of 32 team improvements to make this right. You've misrepresented your product in a shameful way and "we're aware of your feelings" doesn't cut it. This game costs as much as those other titles did on release and if this is the only triple A priced title you buy this year, then a game that is worse than NHL 22 offline with a roster move or two is a bad, bad purchase.
Goodness, you'd complain to the NHL itself but they'd just tell you to stick more ads on the box, and deal with it. And that's not too far from EA's response thus far.
Three points of action:
1. Instruct Microsoft and Sony to issue refunds on request of this title for owners of NHL 22 on Gen 9 consoles. Customers should not have to fight to prove misselling, armed only with this thread. Everyone involved knows what's happened.
2. Remove or edit the official marketing for this title. It's misleading and continues to fool more people into a quickly regretted purchase.
3. If the production and development team have any intention of addressing these issues in a tangible manner through patching, make that clear now. All customers know is that EA is aware of the "feelings". What does that even mean? That privately you've every intention as a company of doing nothing and hoping this blows over? It won't.
Doing nothing isn't acceptable to customers. I'm not going to use the word "community". It's used too often in sports games circles to foster some kind of acceptance of poor quality, bug-rife games because... hey.... the devs, the online players, the franchise guys... we're all in this together. We're all < insert sport> fans here!
Nah. Enough of that nonsense. Not any more. Forget the fact this is hockey. It could be spaceships at this point. EA didn't get to anger Star Wars fans remember.
EA have promoted and sold a game that doesn't stack up against the promotional material and customers who have paid 70 dollars upwards are exceedingly unhappy.
Make it right.

Last year from official EA channels: scarcity of content is due to transition to new game engine, next year is going to be big!
EA delivers even less than last year. So what’s this year’s excuse? Not even a single apology for failing community. - trunkfu3 years agoNew Ace@Rigu7 I'd sign off on that.
- MasterB893 years agoSeasoned Ace@Rigu7 I'd sign off on this too.

Man this is damn near Shakespearean poetry to me at this point lol well done!
Just like to remind everyone to stand pat and be weary of EA gaslighting or misdirecting you on here too. They are so demonstrably in the wrong here in a way that anyone with two eyes can see that we can’t afford to be talking about the freaking fine print and ambiguous wording on blogs to justify this stuff.
I don’t know the sole intention with that but I’m not 100% sure it’s in good faith and tbh it irks me a bit. As someone stated they need to get someone to write a well penned direct message to us on social media sooner rather than later because the handful of replies here aren’t cutting it.

I have played and purchased nearly every EA NHL game since NHL 94 on the Genesis.
I run a (very small hobbiest) YouTube channel where I record my Franchise games and share them throughout the season. I've been doing that for 5-7 or so years now too.
If presentations do not return I am simply not buying another EA NHL game until they return. Sure I'm not the micro transaction whale that the games are clearly focused on now, but I get my joy from playing the games and watching the presentations during the game intros and breaks. Seeing replays randomly, stats showing up, etc. All part of the game to me and IMPORTANT parts of the game for me.
It's why I love games like MLB The Show as well. Hell, Fifa and Madden do great jobs at presentations too. Why the heck is NHL given this back burner crap.
No matter how fun the game is to play it is meaningless to me if the experience doesn't feel good overall.
This must change.
Also, sorry for the double-post, but after trying out the NHL 23 trial from EA Plus..., I have to say I am actually so disappointed with this game. From a gameplay standpoint it feels amazing. HOWEVER, there is no replay for someone scoring on me. There is just a reaction to the goal but no replay. Why would anyone on the dev team think people wanted this? It's just... empty. It feels like I am playing just an arcade game with zero actual connection to the NHL or NHL presentation.
I mean sure online people don't care about video replays or what-not, but as a life-long single player Franchise player, this is unacceptable to me. I want to see the replays of goals against. I want to see replays of penalties. I want the commentary discussion about the teams. I want all of that stuff.
If NHL 23 is really going to pretend this is not important to the sport, then I will just keep playing the older NHL games. I will 100% not buy another NHL game until the presentation is at LEAST where NHL 22 was at. I'm a 100% single player mode player, and I know EA doesn't give a crap about me since I am not paying that HUT micro-transaction stuff but I HOPE they don't view me as a second class citizen when I WANT to enjoy this game.
At the very least let us have the presentation from NHL 22, even if nothing is added. That is better than what we have now;
- Strictly60s3 years agoSeasoned Vanguard@Error1355 Yup, this is the first year I'm skipping as well going back to like NHL 96 for me. The muppets at EA are absolutely clueless. It is beyond me how they decided to do what they've done this year and I sure as heck am not going to give them any money until things are fixed.

That'll show them. Give them more money to play another game. Give them the financial incentive to not fix things.
