Re: Toxic community?

we have players that go up by a goal and immediately run behind their net and try to kill off the rest of the game. So you can either quit the game if you want to play hockey or just wait out the next 40 minutes to play another game. Unbelievable to me that nothing is done about this..

What should they do, exactly? I'm with you - the idea that someone can just go up a goal and play keep-away the rest of the game is infuriating. But I can't think of anything reasonable that EA could implement that wouldn't have a negative, artificial impact.

I've seen some suggest players holding the puck too long in their own zone should slip and fall. Good in theory, but what happens when you have to re-try a breakout a few times because your opponent has a solid forecheck? Do we really want a "pass clock" on offense where we need to get a pass off of our stick out of our own zone under a certain period of time before our player loses his/her wheels?

Another suggestion I've seen is a decline in puck control, passing, acceleration and skating agility attributes of the player in possession of the puck for every second the puck is held behind your own net. Once the puck leaves the zone, the players' ratings get reset. Think of it like the player being 'injured' after they rag the puck too long and their ability to make a clean exit is diminished until they exit the zone.

@rsandersr47 wrote:

We have players choose to play goalie just to leave the net and get penalties/ allow goals.. so you can either quit.. or wait 40 minutes because the game will kick you for poor play FAR sooner than they will kick the goalie.

In-game vote-to-kick. EA refuses to implement this because they think it will be 'abused' - despite being given clear suggestions and examples on how to do it properly and how AAA multiplayer titles handle it without issue now. But they'll let people abuse the report-a-team function....

Furthermore, implement REAL penalties for quitting. You should lose massive RP for quitting, and you should also take a hit to your player level.

If you're a P3 | lvl42 and you quit a game, it should automatically knock you down to P3 | lvl41 and you should lose any upgrades you acquired for reaching P3|lvl42 until you regain the lost RP.

EA will take hard virtuous stances on edgy teenagers trolling with stupid player and team names, but when it comes to the actual experience of players trying to play their product and enjoy the sport of hockey without being bogged down, disappointed and otherwise disgusted with in-game tactics of the same trolls, they're indifferent.

@rsandersr47 wrote:

I know some of the mods say they play this game.. but if you do.. how are you not sick of this to the point you tell the developers something needs done.. again, this is another reason people don't beleive you play the game. It's THE most toxic community of any game I've ever played. NBA 2K is bad but this takes the cake and then some.

I don't deny that the mods here actually play the game. Their insight in some threads can only come from someone who has spent considerable time with the game.

That being said, I think they play a lot of club games and don't spend much time in drop-ins. In fact, I think I've seen other threads that have the same complaints about drop-ins and the mods will suggest playing with friends on a club.

It's not a bad suggestion and playing club games with people you know is 1000% better than drop-ins.

However, ignoring the state of drop-ins and continuously allowing trolls to dominate the mode does nothing but discourage non-club people from playing World of Chel entirely.

I'm going to use this opportunity to bring up an old idea I've had for drop-ins/club games. Being able to play 6v6 with a club who just needs a free agent to fill their 6 spots would be a gamechanger for drop-ins. Being able to drop-in to a club game and attempt to impress them so they keep you full time would be such a breath of fresh air for the drop-in mode.

    @KidShowtime1867 your argument that just because YOU or I can't conceive of a possible solution to puck-ragging means that there's no way the dev-team can is a weak one, honestly. They get paid to problem solve. That's literally what game development is. Surely, there is a way.

    I have mentioned and given hints about this in one of my thread, but you guys don’t think that if the game played like REAL hockey ONILNE like the way I’ve setup my game OFFLINE, that would fix most of these problems ???

    First and foremost, the puck is ALIVE, so that would negate people abusing the zone entries and ballerina stuff…  They would LOSE the puck in a heartbeat… like in real hockey…

    The player fatigue is set at 99 also, so when a player is on the ice for more than 50 seconds, he starts to skate like he was in quicksand and very easy to strip the puck from. That would negate people dancing and dipsy doodling behind their net pretty quickly…. NO ?

    So many things wrong with the way that game has been played ONLINE for years, that people started to accept this as a hockey game, because it has all the licensing of the real NHL… Sorry to burst your bubble, but the way you guys have been playing and that all the “popular” streamers are trying to sell you all these years, is not HOCKEY…. I call it “Sky cam air pinball hockey thingy"

    Do people really enjoy playing like this ? Or is it just the way they have been accustomed to and compete in that environment just for the sake of competing ?

    Time to bring a real setting ONLINE that resembles that beautiful game that is Hockey…

    A quick vid of how the game should be played ONLINE and OFFLINE… Why not ???

    *** I removed the video, cause it was not representative of the new and improved gameplay I’m working on… No worries you can find others later in this thread 😉

    @PernellKarl027Too much puck bobbling on the simplest of passes. Zero difference in speed of the players.  Barely at hitting. Barely any penalties because the gameplay is so slow. Time on Attack is super low which speaks volumes about the sloppiness of puck controlling the simplest of things.  Maybe from an offline POV it looks good but from an Online POV it looks boring and sloppy to me, but to each their own.

    @KlariskraysNHL

    Thanks, you just proved my point. Real hockey is exactly what you have described here, lol ! Like you said to each their own, cause your Online POV like you said is not the real thing…

    First of, there is a big difference in the speed of players, you just have to play the game to notice it. If you take a closer look, you'll see that the easy passes connects pretty easy and the hardest ones, where the player on the receiving end is in a bad spot or doesn’t have much time to react, he bobbles it a bit..

    Take a look at any hockey game and you’ll see that the players, most of the time, they always fight with the puck… Time on attack having control of the puck, is supposed to be on the low side too… Hockey IS a sloppy sport most of the time. There are no magnets in real hockey. The puck is supposed to be alive…

    All my slider sets averages Stats that are on PAR with the REAL NHL, the SOG, the hitting, penalties and the average scores…I don’t know why you say there's barely any hitting ? Oh, you mean players laying on the ice every 10 seconds ? Another thing you rarely see in the NHL…

    But like you said, to each their own…

    I'd love to see more of these sim games like 4 more to make it a total of 5 to compare the endgame stats.   Vegas averaged 2.7 penalties per game which was the lowest in the league so we should be seeing around 5-6 penalties per game.  Then we have offensive zone time which this is pretty old but with teams averaging the amount of penalties per game that TOA should be much higher.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/stats/team/team/penalties/nhl/regular/#:~:text=Penalties%20%20%20%20Team%20%20%20,%20%20346%20%2028%20more%20rows%20

    I'm wanting to see if you can get it even more sim in statistics.

    Great stuff… Let me know what you wanna have ? I have a bunch of screenshots taken at the end of games with stats…. A bunch of video clips from gameplay, a bunch of unedited full periods clips… I also go in full details at Operation Sports in my Slider thread.

    I'm currently finishing things up, but I'm still pinching myself because right now I have set the game up to play a FULL 60… Like you said to each their own, but that has always been a dream of mine 😀

    Never thought that it would be possible on EA's platform…

    @PernellKarl027If you throw a human into that mix of your sim does the AI tend to revert back to more stupid things like bad positioning and such? (even if playing solid positionally)

    But yes post more of your full sim experience and settings and let others get a taste of it.  It could help even the dev team get ideas of what they could look into fixing when it comes to attributes either working too well or not well enough.  Data and feedback is always a nice thing to have.

    @KlariskraysNHL

    Yeah I play mostly Player Lock, and you would be amazed how the AI is playing WAY better… Of course when you player lock, you have to play your position and don’t run around everywhere. That’s where (when you run everywhere) that the AI gets confused… Like in real life I guess, lol ! I started to Player Lock when I started my own version of BAP back with NHL20 and never looked back… When you think about it, it makes perfect sense to control only ONE player in a crazy fast sport like hockey.

    Yes, I will post more if some are interested about it sure… To be honest, I have spent more than 500 hours "under the hood" of this game and I think I have my masters degree in sliders and settings 😆 And Im still digging HARD to get the best gameplay possible…  I just finished playing a FULL 60 and these were the stats… Was playing LeftD locked for the Jets, never asking for a pass and all…

    @KlariskraysNHL

    Or anyone else who is interested in this 😉

    The last 5 minutes of a wild night at MSG… Lots of penalties during that game, 62 faceoffs in all and the buzzing of the crowd near the end was something to see and hear 😀 The pace definitely picked up in that last 10…

    Trailing 3-2 at that moment, I was playing Left D locked For the Rangers against the Big Bad Bruins…

    The stats you will see at the end are REAL time. A full 60. So when there’s 2 minutes left in the end, it’s a TRUE 2 minutes, lol ! Crazy huh !

    Enjoy 😉

    @PernellKarl027 The game definitely looks nice with your settings. Endgame stats looking nice also. @EA_Aljo take a look of this if you haven't already.

    Probably the best full sim I've seen and maybe something that should be targeted as settings for the full sim mode they allow.

    @KlariskraysNHL

    WOW ! Thanks for the shoutout there Follisimo 😀 I just know that I’m having the best hockey game in my life right now…

    I'm still working hard to make it happen, because there’s lots of editing (800 players) just for the NHL and it takes a looooong time, going one by one, by one… If somehow there was a way for me to get my hands on a "global editor" this would be much easier…. And also, that said roster will be only available on XBSX for now 😒

    So yeah, everything comes into play, editing the players, team strategies, lines strategies and of course settings and sliders… I also found a fix earlier this season to get the AI Dmen to be way more active in all the zones and especially taking more slapshots from the blue 😀

    Anyway, thanks again… Much appreciated ✌️

    Thanks for taking the time to post this. Feel to post your slider settings if you haven't yet. It would be good to get more feedback from the community.

    Also, is this AI vs. AI or are you locking to a position?

    @EA_Aljo

    Hey Aljo, hope all is well…

    No problem Aljo, like I said before if just one person gets to enjoy the game like I do right now, it will be worth it, lol !

    I go in way more details on Operation Sports, but yeah, if it was only sliders 😉 I would… But it’s way more deep than this. If someone can do just a slider set that could play a full 60 fully "playable" like this, I would buy them a car, lol ! Trust me, I’ve tried and I’ve tried….

    Sure, I could have done a so slow and sloppy unplayable game to get the results/stats, but my intentions from the get go was to get the most realistic gameplay without sacrificing the speed and pace of the real thing. And as a bonus, the stats followed along 😀

    To be honest, I’m a bit way over my head right now, as I completed about 12 teams... It’s a very LONG process… Like I said, if someone from EA would be kind enough to lend me a "global editor" it would be GOLDEN ! Maybe you have connections 😉

    Basically it's about 90% AI vs AI because I was playing Locked on the Left D for the Rangers 😀

    More RAW gameplay coming for all interested.

    Thanks Aljo !

    A dude that play full 60 deserve some respect.

    You doing good publicity for EA hockey and for human being. (cause of your good attitude)

    Keep up the good work professor slider!

    * The irony, a enjoyable thread like this comes out of a title like 'Toxic community', theres still some hope out there.

    😏

    @Sega82mega

    Thanks man for the kind words !

    I always try to bring the positives out of something, when lots of people were bashing the game at OS, I was there telling them, but if you do this and if you do that, you’ll see that there’s a GEM lying under there… I've been accused of working for EA quite a few times cause a few people bought the game because of me, lol ! But if I did work for them, I didn’t even know it and I’m still waiting for my check 😉

    Yeah, I get what you are saying, maybe wrong thread but hey… My point in this thread, was to say that if we had a ONLINE game like this, it would probably solve lots of the ballerinas and people abusing metas and stuff. But what do I know, lol !

    Ok guys, I’ll take you to my sanctuary so to speak. I often do this when I test my gameplay. It makes me even more focused on the game and I get to see stuff I would sometimes miss… You’ll see what I’m talking about 😉

    I mostly play from the Action Camera because it’s the one I find the most immersive, but this gameplay plays well from all camera angles. In the middle of the period, I switch to Dynamic Medium for people to see.

    Here's the setup, I play Left D locked For the Avalanche… Never asking for a pass and note that I play with 0 pass assist. You can tell in some instances, lol !

    * Note, I recorded this last night and Alex Newhook was on it’s way to Montreal, so sorry Habs fan 😉

    All in beautiful 4K for you guys, enjoy 😊

    I think Ben Ross would be proud 🤔😉

    Toxic gameplay create toxic community/surrounding, probebly not the whole truth, but ofc it dosent help things to be to the better.

    Toxicity is here to stay but you can always adjust it a bit by doing diffrent things.

    A 'perfect gameplay' would save a lot of frustration.

    With frustration comes toxicity. (often).

    Ballerinas do stuff to the human mind, that affect us bad... 🙂

    @PernellKarl027 Nice video. Gave you a thumbs on YT because of course more likes get more views if the video is public.

    Yeah when I play 6s I'm crazy and use the Zone camera so I can see like 2/3rd the rink. When I am not playing goalie my skater also uses 0 pass assist in WoC. I feel it allows for me to give better sauce passes in the areas I need them to be.

    Saucer passes always have 0 assist no matter what you set the online pass assist to. It just affects normal passes.

    Yeah, 0 pass assist gives me lots of freedom, I can put the puck in a spot where only one of my teammate can get to 😀 I even sometimes use the clear button to "throw" a long bomb to one of my teammates 😉

    Thanks again for the feedback on the video… I now have 16 views on my video and 5 are probably from me, lol !! To be honest, I don’t do this for views, but if only it could start to get the ball rolling on that gameplay… It’s hard man 😫

    I don’t know how you guys do it when you play with ZONE or higher… Well I know why, because you get to see more, but I don’t get why playing hockey from a plane makes sense, lol !

    I will shortly post the 2nd period of that game, where I play on pretty much all the Camera angles only to show you guys, cause I got vertigo from playing it, lol !

    It's definitely a cool idea, but I really don't have any details on that. We'll have to wait and see if it's added. I'll pass along the feedback though.

  • @EA_Aljo

    My question was not really a nice thing to get in the future… Well it would be really nice, yes. But I’m pretty sure you guys ( the developers) have one in house ? No ?

    Like I said doing more than 800 of them one by one is a pain in the a** 😫 You think it would be a possibility that I could get my hands on this ? I know it’s a long shot, but it could save my life 😏 It would help me bring the best gameplay you guys ever seen 😉 Come on now, did you ever think you would see a fully playable 60 minutes game in EA ??

    I play Player Lock on Left D for the Avalanche… Never asking for a pass and all that good stuff…Man playing with Makar is such a treat 😀

    If you look closely, you’ll see stuff in this gameplay you’ve never seen before… The board battles are intense, the guys shoving even after you get rid of the puck and stuff..

    Again in beautiful 4K. Enjoy (for the one or two that will watch) 😉
