The official answer was that because you are not playing the coach, you are playing the GM. I'm expecting them to take away the ability to actually play games next year because you also aren't the players, you're the GM. I thought the change of the name of the mode from Be-A-GM to Franchise was getting us away from the constricts of being the GM rather than having full control, but I was wrong.
Yeah pretty stupid decision since they just introduced a special teams strategies customization... so I can set pp strategies but can't set the general team strategies! Duh! This is a big problem for me, might ask for a refund since I ONLY play Franchise mode as the gm AND the coach simultaneously, when I enter the match I always lock controller on CO, so I can adjust strategies on the fly, line match etc.. bummer
@RumOak163 You could change the "settings" but its didn't change how the coach coached. So, if you edited it, it was only how the computer summed, it didn't change the coach's style and didn't increase line chem.
You know what else is annoying, I can't find the Roster M9ves button in missing from edit lines... If its there please help!
Yeah it wouldn't change how the coach coached or increase line chemistry, but at least I would be able to setup my strategies accordingly to the line compositions and use the game strategies I prefer.
In 22 I would also set the coach ai slider ability to change things to zero, so I basically am both gm and coach (locking the controller on CO while entering the game).
By the way I don't play the games, I watch 50% of them CPUvsCPU and quick sim the rest.
@zut72 Yeah, it didn't do anything though. Its a placebo effect. If you play with Morale on, it actually ended up hurting you.
The sim only took effect if the player was playing, so if you simmed the season, (like I do) setting line chem doesn't do anything for you.
It the end it all comes to the realism, which is what EA shoots for (even though the miss alot). Longest GM in history is like 23 years (ergo 25 year lenght) GMs don't set line strategies, Coaches do, etc. And since the entire Team is now decimated to NHL 24, that means don't expect any major/sweeping changes anytime soon. Report the bugs they fix and hope they paid attention next year.
Yeah well they might as well call it Be A GM then, as it was. Franchise mode in my perfect imaginary world let's me actually DO ANYTHING with my franchise 🙄

No, that interview was basically the game devs saying, we won't be fixing NHL 23, we switched ti NHL 24. It's their way of saying, unless its something major, we won't be seeing much. A couple patches, so bug fixes and that's about all. Nothing sweeping.
Basically that we waisted out money on 23, and they're focused on 24 to take more of it.
EA released a trash of a game that has so many bugs and stuff that doesn’t work. I have a feeling they had a bug so they disabled the strategies setting in Franchise mode.
For the last 2 years EA NHL has been flawed garbage and they release no patch or fix. This game is becoming a cash grab
NHL 19/20 are the best games of the last 5! Major changes should be made to NHL24. This conversation has been had many times about having true full control over a team or multiple teams. But sadly, franchise mode doesn’t bring in the amount of money that CHEL does
