If anyone found how to switch off retired numbers in custom league franchise let me know, cause I've looked everywhere and I can't find it.

Seriously, this is ridiculous beyond belief.

As someone who only plays with vintage rosters, custom league was the only reason I even considered buying the game, so I could finally do a throwback season with accurate number of teams, but not being able to put Gretzky in the #99 shirt, that's completely ruins it.
